Target suggestions 100 yards

Log in to see fewer ads
I am starting a summer 100 yard off-hand shoot at our club. We will shoot paper targets and steel gongs. I need suggestions for an affordable paper target. I think a target with a white 10 ring would be helpful but I'm not sure and I'm not seeing any available.
I'd appreciate any helpful comments.

Here is a good source of free targets:

https://www.accurateshooter.com/shoo...kills/targets/

I use the load development one with the circles for 50 yard .22LR shooting and the square one with stick on red dots in the center for center fire shooting at 100 yards.

I would say it needs round scoring rings, NRA highpower sr targets have worked forever. They are made for scaled down across the course.

Just my opinion -- aim for the center

Yes...I have been looking at these but I do not see one with a white 10 ring. We do need scoring rings.

If you want to make it interesting put up animal targets like coyote or feral hog.
International Shooting Sports Federation might have what you want.

We've used this one before for 100 yds standing:

Also scored it 10X, 10, 9, 8, 7

Could you use a regular NRA target like the one below, but apply a round white sticker over the ten ring?

Well duh!
I hadn't thought of putting a sticker over the center. That is not a bad idea.

We will shoot at both paper targets and steel. I plan to set up gongs (also 100yds) in descending sizes...everyone will shoot at each but on the smallest you shoot until you miss. Winner take all with a shoot-off each week on the small target, if required.

Appreciate the ideas...this is a step up from freehand indoors at 50 feet!

Why not start a smallbore silhouette match?

We shoot out to 100 meters (~110 yards) and the reactive steel targets are very satisfying to see when you hit them and they go flying.

If you're shooting offhand and you've never tried silhouette you should do yourself a favor and try it out.

Our club does not permit silhouette targets otherwise that could be a consideration.

@jhrushton, why doesn't your club allow silhouette targets, but, allows a gong? Both would be steel?

If due to a ricochet, I could understand not allowing all metal targets. And at 100Y, I really don't think a ricochet would come back that far. If < 15 yards I would understand.
