Match #1, Club match, NRA Air Rifle resettables, yards
Date: 10-1-17

Round #1, Target:
Class: AAA
Anschutz 2002 SuperAir
JSB Diablo Exact RS (7.33) pellets
Weaver V-16 @ 16X

Chickens - 9
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 1
Rams - 4
TOTAL - 23

Started on Rams, finished on Turkeys. Thought I was getting into a groove while on Chickens and Pigs but completely fell apart on Turkeys. Shots were either just over the back (high left) or just under the breast (low right). Arg.

Round #2, Open:
Class: AA
Air Arms TX200 Mk-III
Weaver V-24 @ 24X
Air Arms Field Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 8
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 29

Round #3, Sporter:
Class: AAA
TX200 again.

Chickens - 8
Pigs - 7
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 28

Made a few really poor shots and a lot of near-misses. Made my obligatory shot between the legs on Pigs on the second bank.

I might make the 1.5 hour drive over to Beaumont to catch their smallbore silhouette match next weekend.

Club match, NRA steel, meters
Date: 10-7-17
Anschutz 1710
Weaver T-24
SK Standard Plus

Match #1, Standard Rifle
Class: AA

Chickens - 9
Pigs - 7
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 29 (my first AAA score for Standard Rifle!)

Match #2, Hunter Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 6
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 29

I made the 1.5 hour drive out to attend the Golden Triangle Gun Club silhouette match out in Beaumont, the same place we had our state match earlier this year.

I don't know what happened but things just clicked for me and I was able to tie my previous smallbore personal record, not once but twice! I'm really glad I was able to finally get my first AAA score in Standard rifle.

Woot woot!

Practice: TQ-14 50-foot paper, outdoors
Date: 10-15-17

Target Rifle:
Anschutz 2002 SuperAir
Weaver V-16 scope @ 16X
JSB 7.33 pellets

Chickens - 5
Pigs - 6
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 6
TOTAL - 24

Not bad but I threw three really bad shots on Pigs. If I counted edge hits it would have been a 28.

Sporter/Open Rifle:
Air Arms TX200
Weaver V-24 @24X
JSB 10.34 pellets

Chickens - 6
Pigs - 7
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 4
TOTAL - 23

Playing around with my support hand positioning made at least four shots go high. Edge hits would have brought me up to 26.

Maybe if I actually practiced I would get better. I get the steel animals and the 452 Silhouette out once a month, just to shoot this match.

Very true, my friend.

You had a really good score for the 50-yard challenge last month so you know you've got the skills. Keep doing that!

I started a match 2 days ago. Hit the first 4 chickens and was feeling pretty good about that. I have never started a match that well. Then the rotary mag decided to kick the bucket. Wouldn't feed the rounds. I cleaned the mag today, and it worked, somewhat. I think the spring is toast, but I got the match in today.

Did pretty well on the first match. The second match I started to fall apart on the Turkeys and then couldn't hit a Ram to save my life. Shots went all around the Rams including four shots between the legs, but just couldn't connect. Oh well.

I just now found this set of threads. Our last match for the year was in October. I'll be ready to post some (low) scores come spring.

Great!! and welcome to our 'lil match. We would love to have you.

If you have a range that you can use, there is a link in the thread header that you can print paper animals from.

You will have a tough time beating me for low score.
