Superdawg in Chicago, Wolfe’s in Chicago or Henry’s in Cicero. Portillos is good, but Wolfy’s beats them.

My favorite is Costco. Steamed hot dog and bun is the way to go for me. $1.50 for a hot dog and a soda (free refills if you eat it there). I'd pay 3x that if they charged it, but they haven't raised the price in 36 years.

Someone brought a bunch of hot dogs to work from Pink's in LA once. Piled with so much stuff I couldn't pick it up. Had to use a knife and fork. Not my cup of tea for a hot dog. I want to be able to put half in my pocket for later.

For me, it’s pretty hard to beat a grilled Hempler’s Andouille pork sausage on a fresh daily hoagie roll with spicy brown mustard, sweet relish, and a small drizzle of katsup.

https://hemplers.com/product/andouille-smoked-sausage/

But I also agree with Vee3 about those Costco dogs. Those spicy Polish dogs were incredible. I just haven’t had one in twenty years. We had an open campus in high school, and I have great memories of jumping in my $500 ‘77 Celica coupe and rolling down to Costco on my lunch hour. I worked after school making orchard loppers in a local factory. Good times!

You're gonna laugh,,,

You're gonna laugh.

But one of the very few things I miss about California,,,
Is the Der Wienerschnitzel hot dog chain.

I know it was fast food,,,
But man were those chili dogs tasty.

They actually had several menu items that were great,,,
On my way home from the bar I would drive miles out of the way for some.

While I have not read it lately, I don’t believe that ketchup on a hot dog is an actual violation of the Geneva Convention. Nor do I believe there is a death penalty rules against in any countries, except maybe North Korea and parts of Mongolia….
