That is the only link I bookmarked to read again later. I just googled "offhand shooting" and didn't feel the need to read past the first two pages of results. I had been trying the target style, leaning back with forward arm tucked in. Next time I'm going to try the more open style with my arm perpendicular under the forearm and right elbow out to the side.

The comments in the link about muscle fatigue also make a lot of sense and should help quite a bit. I was thinking about starting an upper body exercise regimen but I am not that weak, heh. I just checked google again, and these are two other links I found helpful:

Thanks for the link. I have snap caps as I do occasionally practice dry firing with my centerfire rifles. I found one problem I had on the other version of this game was that the rifle I tried it with was over 8.5 pounds and that is a bit much for me. I have a couple of lightweight bolt actions that I am going to attempt this with in the morning.

Finally got the target downloaded and some (probably not enough) of them printed.

I copied the .png version to the hard drive and then opened with the photo software instead of IE.

I never did get the pdf links to work.

My Savage Mk II weighs 6 lbs with the scope, and 7 lbs with the bipod attached. I may attach the bipod next time I try this, as the front end weight may help a bit. Probably will give it a go both ways. Can't wait to try again...

the .pdf file is opened with adobe reader..

http://download.cnet.com/Adobe-Reade...-10000062.html

the .doc file is opened with Microsoft word, your computer should have this already installed.

Otherwise, download the image file, and you have to scale it so it all prints on 1 page... if you don't it will print only 2 squirrels per page.

I made it today and will post the pictures later after the cat leaves my lap. I was wondering if we can qualify more than once as I have several rifles I want to try to use in this game. I only shot one of the bolt actions today as after about 100 offhand shots I was completely worn out. I had no idea how tiring offhand shooting can be and I was using my lighter weight rifles.

Thanks,

Frank

Smile 4 and 5 hits

I tried this morning and had 4 hits on my 3rd card and 5 hits on my 4th card and called it a day with the bolt action. I have to practice more as I could feel fatigue setting in and then I was unable to hold still. Very good game and I will shoot these targets for a long time.

The rifle I used today.

4 squirrel hits.

5 squirrel hits.

I hope to post a 6 squirrel hit card soon.

Question

I was wondering if we could use the approved targets but color in the squirrel heads? I have a rifle I want to use with open sights and if I could color the squirrel heads brown I could see them better. This would only be for open sight entries.

@25 yards there should be no need to change the target at all. Play it the way it stands. I'll have to shoot another one of these and see if I can't get 6 with open sights.

Lightbulb The target is NOT for submission

No hollow points on my shelf and none to be found locally, so I tried w/ SK Rifle Match.

Rifle:

4 Hits. (nearly five )

Couldn't get the pdf to download. Used the png printed to "fit media" on a B&W laser printer. No info on diameter for the circle to verify correct size, so I hope it's OK. Painful and darn near impossible to support buttstock w/ R/S rotator cuff messed up !

Uhhhh, doesn't that 2.6 mm make the circle kinda SMALL ?

You can qualify as many times as you want, only once for each rifle, I'll keep your highest score with that rifle.

Good job shootin! I'll put you on the 5 shot list.

That sounds OK by me, as long as the targets are still the same size, shouldn't be a problem.
