Has anybody made a take-down 77/22?

I was wondering if anyone has adapted the 77/22 to take-down, like the 10/22? Not having a 10/22 take-down to look at, I would guess there isn't too much difference between them. I am referring to the older clamp-barrel 77/22s. Maybe some enterprising machinist has accomplished this.

I tried to revive an old 12 year old thread, but it didn't work. I believe this would be the correct forum to post this.

Looking at my 77/22, and wondering.

I am a machinist, not a gunsmith, I can think of a couple of ways to it, but, that type of modification would most likely add some accuracy issues that would be worse than the 10/22 take down.
Anyway, I would first experiment on a cheap rifle like a CZ, if it didn't work out, it wouldn't be such a traumatic loss

.

The takedown parts for the 10/22 are available from the Ruger Parts Dept, but the 77/22 conversion to takedown would also involve mounting the receiver portion of the 10/22 parts to the front of the 77/22 receiver, and then altering the rear end of the 77/22 barrel to fit.

An alternative to reworking the 77/22 barrel might be to used the entire 10/22 Takedown barrel on the altered 77/22 receiver.

The 10/22 Takedown manual has the parts listing with a schematic:

Also (of course) the 77/22 stock would also need to be altered.
