Beretta 950 w/gold frame?

Hi Folk's, I stumbled onto a Beretta 950 in .22 short at my LGS. It has a gold (Brass?) colored frame and is stamped 1956 on the left side back by the grip. This gun has the longer barrel. I've rooted around on the internet and seen a few older Berettas with the same color frame so I'm pretty certain it hasn't been monkeyed with. It does have a nice patina & is in good condition. Any info as to the history of this gun is appreciated-Thank's-Dave

The 950 in .22 Short is called the Minx. A .25ACP version is the Jetfire. They were made 1952-2003. I have seen photos of gold plated ones, I understand they were a factory item for a short while, but not sure when. You can find a lot on Google. Here's the basic Wikipedia article:

One photo from Google images, this one is engraved and gold

The long barrel version is cool. I encountered one at a shop once upon a time and was very tempted. However, I owned a Beretta 87 Cheetah at the time, so I passed.

The gold is probably the anodizing of the aluminum frame. All the ones I have seen that were truly gold (or silver) plated were also engraved. Often they had upgraded grips also, turtle shell or seashell materials. So if it has regular old black plastic grips, and no engraving it probably has a yellow anodized frame. I don't think value would be more than one in the same condition with a black anodized frame.
