Mark75H sir I have been using my Marlin 883 in 22mag for around 10 years now and it is the only rifle that always goes with me for any kind of shooting even when I am shooting Skeet or Trap. Its like my right hand I don't do any shooting without it.

All I shoot is the CCI Chootem 40gr jhp ammo and if I miss the shot it was me and not the rifle. It is very accurate. When shooting Gophers with my older brother he will stop shooting and be my spotter for me and try to point out shots are very hard to get....yardage wise and only head shots....and he is still blown away with what my rifle and I can do.

So no I would not be surprised with what a good Marlin rifle can do...I have seen it with my own eyes. When I went Gopher shooting the first time with my brother he had a Marlin 983 SS in 22mag and I got to shoot his rifle...I fell in love with how it shot and tried to buy it off of him that trip, but he would not sale it...so when I got home from that trip I had to get one...looked for months and the only thing I could find was a NIB 883 in blue which was great...at that time I really did not like/care for SS rifles. I was always looking for a 983 like my brother had but in blue and the Fleur de Lis popped up...never knew they made them....and finally after all these years of shooting with my older brother I bugged the heck out of him about his 983 SS rifle and I finally got it.

The picture is up above.

I sure hope I never find a cure for the Marlinitis as I have been bitten two more times. A 925m that has some kinks to be worked out. And my 783 which has it's own thread if you'd like to see it. I'm up to 10 now.

If you like your Marlins now, suppress them and discover a whole new level of Marlin love...
1894's and the 1895 is a hoot to shoot and is cheap fun with PC cast bullets.

Another .22 Mag

Have a great stainless/laminated 983 Marlin that shoots tight groups. I said that would be the last .22 Mag rifle I would get....well, found an excellent 783 with Weaver K4 scope for $150 today, couldn't resist, put on layaway. I rationalize by saying that nice JM guns will go up in value....

Why rationalize when you can admit you've succumbed to the addiction 😂. But it's worth every bit of the 150 and then some you will love it.

I've been taken by the affliction again. I know I know it's not a bolt action but. It sure is a gorgeous Marlin 22 mag. Signalman I found the semi to get you to buy one.
