Which Blazer round? The 40-grain packed in boxes of 50 or the 38-grain packed in 525-round "value packs"?

Once I went to sv's, I kissed Blazer goodbye. Many years ago I shot them in my handguns because they cycled decently. Didn't care where the round went. When I went to bench shooting, they shot like bleep, along with all Win and all Fed. Not my opinion, my gun's. No, I can't afford an Annie so don't tell me how great they shoot in them.

As I mentioned, I shoot sv's mostly, but Calamity has to shoot the hv's until we get rid of them. For the past three weeks, I've loaded six of her Ruger mags with Fed HV Match. Since she had problems with them the first time out, I made sure I had a different lot the next time. As you said "bang, pop, fizz, pop, bang, fizz, etc. The fizz never ejected the shell. Mind now, she shoots 1K a week and has never had a problem. I still have 3-4 bricks of this bleepin' stuff.

On my end, long ago a fairly knowledge lady recommended Fed Target, sv in the orange box. I've tried them in my great shooting GM barrel in my ruger 1264, my good shooting Ruger Light Varmint 1235, my Sporter Deluxe, and others. Total kwrap. Pop, fizz, fizz, fizz, pop, fizz, and all the fizzes are FTE. Again, I shoot 1K of all sv's through these with never a FTE.

I've known this for years and sold all my Fed Champions that I bought at WW, the 550's, and many of the metal cans containing 2100 rounds that I bought at Cabelas in the good ole days. Again, at 50 and 75 yards, I was very lucky to get half the mag in my 3" Shoot N C target.

The 50 round boxes of Blazer have been working fine but I have heard a lot of whining about the 38 grain bulk packs. My wife's 15-22 likes the Blazers and mine does OK with the older Federals. New Federals seem to be getting more failures and stovepipes. I have a bunch of them. The 22-45 lite eats them. I picked up a brick of Aguila 38 grain HP and a 100 box of CCI poly coated subsonic to try out. I have heard that the Remington golden bullets are doing OK. I have not bought any in years because the last batch was so bad. The Aguila SV's have been doing ok but I am a plinker. I dont have any target grade guns.

Blazer is bargain basement ammo. You can't expect much from that.

Reverse is more like it. HS bulk stuff doesn't shoot much better in our Anschutz rifles than it does in our youth group 10/22s.

Better ammo more clearly separates average and good barrels.

Really. I'm sorry to hear that. From reading all the posts here about ammo shooting so well, then they mention their rifle is an Annie, I thought everything shot well in them. By well, to me, it's 1/2"-3/4" for ten shots, five times. (50 rounds)

Bought a case from Target sports USA in the 50rd. boxes. Never had a problem with Blazers but this case is CRAP! Out of every 50 rds. probably about 15-20 are under powered, Very audible! The weak ones won't eject either.

This isn't good, I have some older Blazers I use for steel challenge matches, guess I better conserve them.

It use to shoot Very well! I shoot it in my pistols for Steel Challenge, this case has a funny looking head stamp, like someone else loaded them. (I'll post some pictures of head stamp and lot #)
Agreed, they are now bargain basement crap! Won't be buying anymore!

That was my worry. I use these Blazers (just bought a case from Target Sports USA) in my Advantage Arms G17.4 conversion kit for trigger control practice. Not too many rounds that are compatible with the kit, so this is a possible issue for me.

I wonder if these lots were loaded on the CCI lines or on the Federal lines.

I have bought 7 or 8 bricks (10 50/pks) of Blazer in the last six months and had zero issues with them. I don't know much about ammo manufacture but maybe it was a bad run on their line?
