finally got the later version about 4k from end of production, sn122698....home

from my post about an earlier version...
https://www.rimfirecentral.com/forum....php?t=1157497

anyway....got her all cleaned up....and got to shoot it....mag function was great...groups were great using frd hv match....no problem hitting a small steel plate at 100yds...

sporting the optional rear sight number 15 or 10....screws are 2 different sizes...gun is in very nice shape with just some freckles on the barrel....rear peep screws are smooth no hangups...stock numbered about 1000 later

my question is.... would the sling swivels be factory.... they are made up of a almost square stock....and look like the ones for the 19 NRA model...and they also have a thick leather washer...

love the history
Thanks for any input al

still cant figure imgur out.....was easier to post album link on other posts....but I cant figure it out now

I have never seen a 23A with factory swivels. The ones in the photos are Savage made, but I have only seen them on the NRA-19s. Also noticed that the #5 rear sight may have a little bubba fix to the windage adjustment. The small spring steel click indicator looks to have been replaced. Just something that I noticed. Very nice looking rifle, the receiver and barrel all as one has such a clean look. So enjoy and thanks for letting us all have a look.

Nice, very nice. Old school .22s love them. The Savage 23s with the barrel and receiver as one has such a clean look. Enjoy and thanks for the photos

I looked at the pictures of your sight, the wire is there to replace a missing spring that wraps up and over the disk on the windage screw and would snap into notches on the disk - these springs are often found broken so the wire was put there as a simple fix. The small bar you refer to was just to hold the screw in position horizontally.
