RFC Name ddb Name Dan
Score 34 Class 3 Scoped 12x
Rifle Savage Mark II Ammo Wolf MT
Rest Bipod, shoulder
Humid, windy, skeeters biting and piney squirrels laughing at me.

First time I shot with any match grade ammo. I must say there was a difference. The round felt softer and a lot truer. My only gripe is I had 3 FTF.

I only had 40 rounds of the wolf ammo but only shot 39 at the pool balls. The other round found the piney.

You sure gave the center circle on those pool balls a hard run Dan.
Those little circles are tough to keep two rounds within the borders.
Yes, that target garde ammo most always shoots softer and quiter and stays a bit tighter on the paper. It`s worth the price in competition shooting.
Thanks for shooting with the gang again.
Bill

Excuses- Petals look large enough till the round hits them!

Bill tried keeping within the rules.
If a shot cuts the border line of the petal, that petal has no score.
Shot this one twice.
Bullets jumping around like I'd had alittle to much coffee.

Thanks for letting me shot with the gang.

Looking good Gary, That is some tough target with a steady hand.
I designed the petals to move just before the shot gets there, they really are big enough, just elusive.
Thanks for shooting with us Gary.

Great showing on those moving petals Jack.
I`m going to ease up on the C-3 Scoped shooters next month.
I may even put this target in retirement for a year or so.
The August C-3 Sc. is going to be a breeze.
Thanks for shooting with us again Jack.

Hey y'all, I'm back! I got the chance to shoot two targets today and found out that my accuracy still kinda sux! I shot a class 1 irons with my trusty Winchester 67-A and a class 1 scoped with my new (to me) Savage 93r17. Scored a 5 (no, that's not a typo-only 5) with the Savage, and a 50 with the Winchester. Will post pics when I figgure out how to scan with the new printer.

Good to see you back.
Don`t let the scores bother you, they will settle in with a little range time.
Looking for the pics as soon as you get the scanner figured out.

Starting the excuses:
- Our range is metric, so we were shooting at 25 meters (27.5 yards +/-)
- Shooting next to some big boomers. I think the muzzle blast moved us, and the bullets in flight....
- The planets were not aligned in our favor.
- I'll think of more later.

Just kidding. We had lots of fun, and see a reason to practice more. My daughter just started shooting within the last 4 weeks. I think she likes it. However, she is off to college in a month, and no firearms allowed there.

It may be debatable whether the Savage MKI FVT is a class 2 or 3, but the BSA Sweet 17 scope is not up to the C-3 task, or else my eyes aren't. The glass is not always clear, or my eyes aren't. I need to save up for another Leupold MKIV and sell the BSA.

My daughter (C-2 scoped): This is the third time ever shooting!
RFC (none, yet) First name Deanna
Score_38__ w/bonuses. Class 2 Scoped
Rifle Savage MKI FVT, BSA Sweet 17 3x-12x, Ammo CCI Mini-mags
Rest Sandbag front, polybead filled rear bag
Weather 95 degrees, 60% humidity, wind gusty to 9mph
Excuses. See above

Me (C-3 scoped):
RFC DustyJacket First name Bill
Score__30__ w/bonuses. Class 3 Scoped
Rifle Savage MKI FVT, BSA Sweet 17 3x-12x, Ammo CCI Mini-mags
Rest Sandbag front, polybead filled rear bag
Weather 95 degrees, 60% humidity, wind gusty to 9mph
Excuses. I think the wind was making individual petals flutter

Target below is mis-marked. Each petal is 5 points and not one point.

After I did the Flower tartget above, I went to re-zero the scope and got the below. These are 5-shot groups at 25 meters. The CCI Mini-mags were slightly more accurate at this range than the Remington SV target leads, which were more accurate than the Federal Auto Match loads.

This is the rifle in question (peep sights removed when scope is installed) Savage MKI FVT .22lr (21" barrel):

I have a question after looking at Deanna's target ( balls 11, 12, 14, and maybe ball 3 )and some others: If a shot touches the line for the inner circle, but does not completely break the line ( no part of the hole is outside the line for the inner circle) does that count as inside or partially outside?
I think I owe my daughter some points.
The shots must be totally within the circle, not touching or cutting the line.

Nice targets from the both of you Bill and Deanna.
I`m glad you were able to get in some shooting with the gang here and do give them another try.
The shooters, rifles and ammo seem to be capable of some fine shooting and the big boomers may well have been a factor in the wayward shots. Go after them again before Deanna has to go off to further her education.
Thanks again for joining in.

The August shoot will be posted Aug. 1st. Bigger and easier targets.

Okay, my first time shooting in any of the Fun Shoots on RFC, let's see how I did.

RFC NameGaryC First name Gary
Score_______ w/bonuses. Class __C2____ Irons______, Scoped 24 Power Mueller Eradicator.
Rifle Ruger 10/22T, Sights Mueller Eradicator, Ammo: Fiocchi High Velocity
Rest_San Angelo Bench Front, Protektor bag rear
Weather_Absolutely gorgeous evening, temps mid 70's slight breeze
Excuses._I'm a lousy shot?

One ball started out okay, not sure what happened on 2 and 3, all the four balls gave me issues. Five through eight seem okay (you may want to check 7, dunno), nine and 11 just ended up in the same place, fourteen I tried moving some, and again, I'm not sure about 15. I think it's okay. If each ball is 8 points, then it should score 72.

One started out moving to the right, first shot broke the black line, so I'm assuming it doesn't count. Two and three were okay, again, four, all over the place. Five and six were close, seven I don't know about. Eight and nine look okay, 13 and 14 broke the black ring. Looks like nine balls again, so 72.

I have no idea about one or two, six is a maybe. Nine, I'm not sure. I count four I'm sure of. Score 32.

Four was totally unexpected. I opened a new box of ammo, and I couldn't keep anything anywhere near target. Six balls, maybe. Score 48.

I'm going to try again tomorrow morning, and see if I can't do better. One of the things working against me was that I didn't really have a bench to rest at, our 25 yard and 50 yard are combined, so we had a stand up area, which is far narrower in depth than a regular shooting bench. Makes it hard to have enough space to set the rest and the bag. I'm pretty sure if I could have been more comfortable, it would have been easier.

Another thing. I was actually going to shoot this with my Savage .17HMR, but the scope I have one it would not focus down to 25 yards. Any chance of slightly larger targets for a 50 yard competition?

Gary

Hello

Hello Gary,

Just looking at the Fun Targets and something dont look right.
Your shorting yourself. The number on the pool ball is what you add up if it is a good ball. Not 8. You gave up several 15's, 14's, 13's and so on.

Good Luck
Jack
