Club match, NRA steel, meters
Date: 3-9-19
Anschutz 1710
Leupold Vari-X III / Premier boosted scope @ ~30X
SK Standard Plus

Match #1, Standard Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 8
Pigs - 5
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 6
TOTAL - 25

Don't know why I had such a hard time with the Pigs.

Match #2, Hunter Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 7
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 8
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 30

Always a great feeling to get a score in the 30's.

This was the first match with my brand-new Hardscrabble silhouette vest. The thick shoulder pad is going to take some getting used to as I'm so used to feeling right where the butt-pad is in my shoulder and knowing if it's in the right place or not. I'm sure it will also break in a little bit as I use it.

Winds were around 15 MPH and very switchy. All three of the master shooters commented about breaking perfect shots and hitting left or right of the animal. I know I had the same feeling on some of my own shots and probably got a little "help" on a few edge shots too.

Next weekend is the Shamrock Silhouette Shootout (air rifle silhouette regional) in Baton Rouge so I'll post a report when I get back.

The Shamrock Silhouette Shootout is in the books and here is my report. All three matches were 60-shot matches so I've added a 40-shot equivalent in parentheses after the total.

Match #1, Club match, NRA Air Rifle resettables, yards
Date: March 16 and 17, 2019

Round #1, Target Rifle:
Class: AAA
Anschutz 2002 SuperAir
JSB Diablo Exact RS (7.33) pellets
Sightron BigSky @ 24X

Chickens - 12
Pigs - 11
Turkeys - 13
Rams - 9
TOTAL - 45 (30)

Started on Pigs and didn't get as many as I should have, but somehow I picked up the slack on the Turkeys. I won first place in AAA, narrowly avoiding a shoot-off by one point.

Round #2, Open Rifle:
Class: AAA
Air Arms TX200 Mk-III
Weaver V-24 @ 24X
Air Arms Field Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 11
Pigs - 10
Turkeys - 8
Rams - 11
TOTAL - 40 (26.6)

Again, the Pigs weren't helping me out much. Not as good a score as I was hoping for but I still ended up with first place in AAA.

Round #3, Sporter Rifle:
Class: Master
TX200 again.

Chickens - 11
Pigs - 13
Turkeys - 10
Rams - 12
TOTAL - 46 (30.6)

Started on Rams, missed the first three then ran the next 12, so I got a TIAR towards a Grand Slam. Finally got my Pigs going down like they should. I ended up in fourth place in Master class with the three guys ahead of me with scores of 47, 48, and the winner with a 49. It felt good knowing I was just three points behind the match winner.

All in all it was a great match as usual. Big thanks to Dustin Flint and the rest of the Louisiana Rifle Silhouette Team.

Pigs were giving me the fits today. I managed to put a shot in the little hole between the legs twice in a row on one bank.

Now that the two big air rifle matches are done for the year I have to get focused on my smallbore again. I'll be heading to the big CBC match in Pe Ell in a month and need to get myself back to hitting high 20's and low 30's on a regular basis before then.

JSB Diablo Exact RS (7.33) pellets
Sightron BigSky @ 24X

Chickens - 6
Pigs - 7
Turkeys - 7

Started on Rams and just couldn't get in sync with what the wind was doing until I got to Turkeys.

Round #2, Sporter Rifle:
Class: Master
Air Arms TX200 Mk-III
Weaver V-24 @ 24X
Air Arms Field Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 8
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 8
Rams - 7

This is why I like shooting this rifle so much!

Round #3, Open Rifle:
Class: AAA
TX200 again.

Chickens - 8
Pigs - 9

Fading light started to mess with POI by the time I got to Rams, otherwise the same scores (each animal) as the previous match.
