Do I Need Model Specific Bore Guides

I'm not a newbie, but this is a very basic question.

I've been using bore snakes, from the bore to the muzzle for the past several years on my rifles.

I've never used a bore guide (I know, sacrilege). I've acquired some expensive rimfire (Cooper 57M, Weather/Anschutz/Zephyr 2, Tikka 1x, and a few others. My next buy is going to be an Anschutz 1712 Sporter. I don't shoot thousands of rounds. I'm primarily an archer but am getting fired up about rimfire more these days (squirrel hunter). So, I've never put more than a couple hundred rounds of .22 through any of my rifles, but I intend to do more informal shooting as I near retirement in 1.5 years.

I'm thinking I should upgrade my cleaning technique to better protect these rifles.

Do I have to get different bore guides for each one?

Yes different fit depending on the action, and Mwerks will also size the rod inserts to the exact size for your rod.
There are others but might as well get the best.

If one guide correctly fits more than one rifle, why buy more guides?

There are generic guides that can fit several rifles, and specific ones that will work with specific rifles, like a guide for an Anschutz 64 action.

You can't guide a cleaning rod well in a sloppy-fitting bore guide.

Proper fitting bore guides are cheap insurance from damaging the chamber area during cleaning.

Yes, some bore guides may fit between different rifles, but it is a compromise. Spend a ton of money on multiple rifles, rings, optics and then be cheap with something that protects the investment.

I guess that pretty much outlines my thoughts.....
