The Remington 512-X Sportmaster
- the very first rifle I ever purchased as a young farm boy.
When I hunted with it on the farm, it had a fixed power 4x28 scope that had a 3/4" tube and I used it in that configuration for many years. The scope finally gave up the ghost a few years ago, so I looked for a replacement for a long time but found it challenging to find any 3/4" dovetail rings. I finally mounted a spare Nikon 3-9x40 scope and it now makes an occasional trip to the range just for
While that 3x9 would work for hunting, I have convinced myself that AO "should" be a requirement on any rimfire. A 2x7 is a good fit for hunting as well however, the parallax is usually set @ 50 or 75 yards for those scopes. Nikon makes a great 3-9x40 EFR AO scope that would make a great hunting setup and actually have a couple on CZ 45x Americans with that configuration.
Leupold has offerings in a similar configuration as already mentioned.
