Just have to ask. What is the point you are trying to make? I don't remember.

I "put away safely" the spare car keys for my wife's car and mine. Did a great job, haven't seen them for about 4 months now!!!!

This is a prime example of why it is best to have three of everything but maybe a wife.

I make a to-do list each evening for the next day, and then forget to take it with me. Probably ought to do it on the phone but then I would forget the phone.

The good thing is, for those of us that are retired we have more time to try to remember.

Sometimes you get a surprise bonus. Going through my stuff I found 750 rounds of 9mm JHP I did not remember. It is now worth a lot more than I paid for it.

It's contagious!

Last year I finally got around to completing an AR build I'd started years back. I'd bought a barrel from a last-ditch supplier, not one of my usual go-tos, and when I got it together I checked the headspace and found it way short. I packed the whole thing up, with my headspace gauges in the case, and handed it to a friend who's an actual gunsmith and asked him to check it for me. He called back in a month or two and said it was WAY short, shorter than he'd ever seen. I asked if he could ream it out to the correct spec, and he said he'd try. Called back a bit later and said it was not only way short, but the case head part of the chamber was WAY wide. He advised chalking it up to experience and buying a better barrel. Next time he was in town he dropped off the cased AR with a big DO NOT FIRE tag on it and I put it away and forgot it for a year or so. Then I remembered it, got a new barrel and went to finish the job. Got it done, got out the GO/NO GO gauges from the case and thought, "Huh! I thought those plastic cases were round, not square...and I thought I bought Manson, not Clymer. Must be losing it!" A little while later, looking for my gas tube pin in another compartment, I found a set of Manson gauges. Got on the phone: "Lloyd, are you missing a set of 5.56 headspace gauges?"
Long pause, "Not that I know of. Let me go check....Ah, yeah. Guess I haven't needed those lately, huh?"
"I'll get them in the mail first thing in the morning."
Not sure which of us had it first, but it's definitely catching, and now we've both got it.

I learned one thing recently.

The proper answer to the question "Have you had trouble remembering things?" is not "Not that I can remember."
