OK !
I can’t remember if I ever made it to 475 before .
Just checked and I Actually shot a 477 back in 2013 .

But my eyes and nerves were a lot better back then .
Edit : ok , I scanned my previous scores and I’ve actually shot 477 twice . Once in 2013 , and again in 2015 .
I think it’s time I shot another

****50yd Iron Sight ******
169-0X
Dan Ide 72
Morrison Gun Club
Remington 341-P ( very old bolt action, tube fed )
small rear peep / post front
Remington Range ( seemed to work OK )
32-0x 36--x 34-0x 31-0x 36-0x = 169-0X

****50yd Scope entry ******
185-0X
Dan Ide
Morrison Gun Club
Ruger Precision Rim Fire ( first time out, needs a lot of work to fit me )
BSA scope at 8 power
Remington Range
36-0x 40-0x 38-0x 37-0x 34-0x = 185-0X

Notes: upper 30s wore a shooting jacket, sweat shirt, off hand glove, still cold! Did have the range to myself, so that was nice. Believe the Ruger will work out pretty nice.

Looks like you all are doing lots of good shooting and having a fine time. I have been pretty much shut down by rain, snow and wind. Probably a wuss, but I moved my shooting into my shop for the winter. I can only shoot 30 feet, am shooting at a reduced 50 yd pistol target center. If I can shoot all 10's on this it translates to 9's or better on the a23 at 25 yds. I am hoping when spring comes I will be in top form. Still being upright will be good enough. The 6th bull on this target I shoot with my 22/45 with an ultra dot. A very good rig. With the pistol the 10 ring is an x ring. I am a little better pistol shot than a rifle shot but have done more of ot it. Here it is for you viewing pleasure, keep shootin. Cheers Jake

About a year ago I went through all of the previous posts , all the way from the beginning in 2012 . Hard to believe I’ve been doing this for seven years .
I went back and copied all of my entries with scores and put them on a few pages in my notes on my IPad.
The other day when Purple Bikerr challenged me to which of us would shoot a 475 first , I scanned over my results and found where I had shot a 477 , once .
Today , I took the time to look over my entries specifically to see what rifle and scope combos I’d had the most success with .
Well the conclusion was interesting. It seems I do better with a light weight sporter bolt action rifle with a low power scope on it .
With open sights there wasn’t really much difference in scores except I did do better with Aperture sights compared to factory open sights .
So , I setup a CZ 455 with a Lux stock and a 2-7x32 scope . I chose a barrel that has a Brno front globe on it so I can easily remove the scope and slip on a rear Brno aperture sight, so I will be able to shoot both scores with the same rifle .
I own several rimfire rifles and believe they all should have a turn in the rotation to the range , but I’m going to try this experiment and see what happens .
That is , until my new CZ 457 Lux arrives late next week .

*****25YD Scope Entry *****
445-2X
Dan Ide
Milan Rifle Club
Savage B22
4 power scope
CCI Std.
87-2x 90-0x 84-0x 91-0x 93-0x = 445-2X

*****25yd Iron Sight Entry ********
418-1X
Ide
MRC
Mossberg 144LSB
Peep rear / aperture front
CCI std.
84-1X 84-0x 84-0x 82-0x 84-0x = 418-1X

Notes. Really needed a bigger aperture on the Mossberg but was pressed for time.
The Savage really handles nice, 3-P league starts next week, think it will work very nice for that. Going with a low power scope with thick cross hairs so I can see them.

*******25 Yard Open Sight ENTRY for October *********

Tried my experiment with the light rifles this morning. I needed them . I was having a rough day of it .
This was my first round I shot this morning and my highest score for today even with a zero on my fourth target . I had a spaz moment and threw a shot five inches left of the target off paper by at least two inches . I have no idea what happened.
First round wore me out . I shot a 442 something for a scope score .
And when I tried my 455 with apertures in a Varmint stock , I was all over the place .
Hopefully I can get in some more practice next month and get my muscle memory back .

October Iron Sight Entry

Iron Sight Entry 10-19-2019
Score: 475-10X
Name: 72coupe/Roy Woodman/72
Location: Wichita Falls, Tx
Gun: Ruger Precision Rifle
Set up: Iron Sights
Ammo: Federal Automatch
Individual Target Scores: 94-2X, 954-1X, 95-3X, 97-3X, 95-1X four 8s
Notes: This was my first target of the day and my vision was unusually good and my hold was very good. But in between the first and second target I had a confrontation with a group of people who were not members of our club. I ask nonmembers to leave the range from time to time and it always amps me up to the point where I can't shoot a good score. The second target of the day was 453-8X.

Haven't been able to beat my 464 irons score yet this month, hope to get another shot at it this week.
Still have to shoot a scoped target too.
Just too much else going on...
Cheers
Bob

Nice to have you back Kirby ! As you can see we have a lot of talented new blood here, but always good to have an original match member come back.
We are still going strong here with lots of entries every month.
I am very proud of this whole family of dedicated Offhanders

Hey Merle, hope this goes well for you.
If I may, a bit of advice from one who's been there, with mixed results...

1-Be VERY picky in the pre-op eye exams, where they will decide which lenses to put in your eyes. It IS POSSIBLE FOR THEM TO NOT GET THAT PART QUITE RIGHT.
I had to wear a contact lens on one eye when they did mine, and that lens was also slightly tilted in my eye which cause some double vision

2-Contrary to what the Dr may tell you, it IS possible to re-do the surgery if your vision is unacceptable after the surgery. My R eye was re-done to get the correct lens and get it in straight.

3-Your vision should be much improved after the surgery. Mine is good now, but for me it took some complaining. They won't give you any guarantees, but just pin them down to at least take the time to be certain what lenses to use. That is the important part, it can be done given enough time and care, before you go in for the operation

All the best,
Bob

Thank you -this is good info!
My anxiety level is steadily rising - I'm a big sissy about my eyes.
I find it difficult to even put in eye drops, so.....
