Henry Frontier in Silver

Got around to taking off the paint on Christmas Eve. This Henry now looks great. My son got his first Daisy BB gun, an old 95b that I cleaned up, and I got the Henry. We had a great Christmas. I really love the gun in silver. Much better than black. I don't think I'll do the case hardening look, I like it just the way it is. It's a good thing that I took it apart, it really needed some oiling - was levering very rough, now it's smooth as can be. Love it. Now if I can find the time to plink some cans.

Glad you took time to do the lower part of the receiver. They look much better than leaving the bottom black. Very nice looking.

Thanks. I did put a clear coat on it. Now I've just got to save up for the large lever. It'll be the longer version of the Evil Roy. I think Henry should just offer a version like this on all their models. They look much sharper than the black.

That looks great, love the saddle ring and the large lever loop. Did you drill and tap a new hole for the saddle ring?

Yes, it seems that firearms threading is in a world of it's own. The threads on the saddle ring were 8-40 and I had to buy a tap from Numrich gun parts. In my small town, you can't just go to the hardware store for gun related nuts and bolts.
The saddle ring came from a vendor on Gunbroker.

Here is my h001. It has the Simmons 22Mag 4x32. Nice scope for $25 IMO. I do agree that these larger (ehem.....) scopes totally ruin the natural lines of the rifle. I just received some low rings that will probably require me to remove the rear sight, and add a hamer extension (that is on the way), but the scope will sit a little lower, which will be better for the squirrel hunting around the property i do, while at the same time look better, i hope.

This was the first group from the above pick using thunderbolts. The thunderbolt actually does ok, but i often get this verticle stringing, especially with the first couple of shots. I don't remember my other guns doing this, but I will test next time I go to the range. Left to right, I'm pretty good, but squirrel hunting, the vertical accuracy is more important. Of course, it could also be that my shooting is worth a plug nickel till get a few off............

BTW: I remember the first shot was the one low right, in the center of the target, so it would seem that they were creeping up, but i only remember that first shot.

That receiver cover is the reason I sold my H001, and got the H00TER with the options I want already on it.
Now to cover the gouge in the stock.....
