Stock for Vudoo

I am getting serious about getting a Vudoo rifle. It will be the crow since I'm a smaller frame adult. I will use it for squirrel hunting. I have never shot a 17hm2 but I'm thinking to get the rifle chambered in that because I have so many .22lRs already.

I want the rifle to be about as light as I can get it. Probably get the 16" barrel in ranch contour. I have never even seen a suppressed .22 but I'm thinking I may get a suppressor, that's why the 16" barrel instead of the 18 or 20".

I may of course go with the grayboe stock Vudoo Gun Werks sells, but since this action/barrel is supposed to be drop in for Rem. 700, I am wondering about something else.

As I'm evaluating stocks (synthetic, ultra-light weight) should I be looking or Rem 700 short action? ADL or BDL? Hinged floor plate or not?

I don't own a Rem 700 so I'm not real familiar with them.

I've seen a few used ones on Gunbroker (to avoid month's long waits).

Thanks

As you've guessed there is more than one breed of Rem 700. The biggest difference between the ADL and BDL stocks is that one (the BDL) has a hole in the bottom of the stock -- drop floorplate mag design but the hole would be where the VGW mag goes.

The Vudoo guns are built on the short-action design but your best bet for a 100% answer is to get with the guys at Vudoo and ask them what stocks are going to fit.

Look for short action stocks that will accept Detachable Bottom Metal for Accuracy International magazines.

^^^^THIS. The Vudoo will drop into any 700 SA stock with a bottom metal inlet of your choice as long as the DBM accepts AICS style (includes the clones) magazines. If you have questions, shoot me a PM and I'll walk you through the finer details.

Thanks,

While I'd never try and talk someone out of a Vudoo, I'm putting together a similar rifle for much less coin.

It's a CZ 457 Lux with a Lilja 17 Mach 2 barrel. The Lux stock is nice and compact, great for squirrel hunting, which is why I'm building the gun. It shoots great now, but with a bedding job and trigger, it'll be outstanding, I believe.

As outstanding as a Vudoo, yes, I think so, because the weak link in both our rifles will be the very NOT match quality 17 hm2 ammo. Vudoos shine like they do, in part, because match .22lr is so well madeónot the case with Mach 2.

FWIW, Vudoo also offers a very lightweight stock made by All Composites, that is VERY nice!

I'm hoping and expect it is the Outlander shorter that I've ordered with this rifle.
Thanks
