Boyd's,,,
At-One Adjustable Gun stock

Does anyone have any idea what the "At-One" stands for?

Just curious is all,,,
I'm buying a CZ that comes with one.

It would be nice to know what the nomenclature means.

Thanks in advance.

I have no idea. Asking Boyd's might be the solution.

I cannot believe no one is taking a guess at what "AT-ONE" means. Some of you creative types have to chime in. I will state the obvious one.......Due to its various adjustments for cheek weld and length of pull...

"You can become AT ONE with the stock and it will be an extension of your body"

briggleman nailed it.

I sent a message to Boyds asking what was the purpose for the Single-Point sling mount (don't say to attach a single-point sling) and the meaning of the name "At-One".

This is their reply:

With the numerus styles of slings available today. Some require a quick detach mounting point. At-One is short for Be At One with your rifle. The adjustability allows you to fit the rifle to your shooting style.

I have to say they were quick to reply.

I knew someone would chime in with an "ugly stock" comment.

That's okay though,,,
Beauty is in the beholders eye.

I will say that I would have preferred the exact stock in real wood,,,
But while I am not "in love" with the looks of the laminate,,,
I don't consider it to be blatantly ugly.

If I did,,,
I wouldn't have bought it.

The Boyds At-One and the CZ At-One (made by Boyd's?), are slightly different, the Boyds has a plastic wrap around on the pistol grip, plus the single point sling attachment. The fore end has a plastic wrap around that also includes multiple slots for a bi-pod. I was able to handle the Boyd's version at a local gun shop, the plastic on the grip has "square" edges and had a very strange feel to it (unpleasant to hold). Both versions have a plastic wrap around with sling stud at bottom of butt stock. I have a CZ 457 At-One and the CZ version does not have any of the plastic on grip or fore end and a normal sling stud on the fore end. To me the CZ version looks better and is comfortable to shoot from a bench. IMO the plastic gives it a cheap look. The link has a photo of the CZ version of the stock.

My LGS has a Savage MK II with an AT 1 stock. A shop in our county's large (for here) town has a couple of CZs with AT 1 stocks and the CZ stock is not too bad in the looks department and certainly feels nice in the hand but the Savage's is more bulky and definately in the ugly department to this beholder's eye.
