I have had very good luck using a small plastic lunch cooler. Seriously.

I picked up one at some store to use for work, but decided to pack my range basics into it one day and it worked perfectly. It holds ear muffs, two hundred rounds of ammo and my sand/bean bag. Room on top left over for a sandwich as long as I don't make it a dagwood!

With my bag on top, it gives me anywhere between 8" and 12" of elevation, just enough for shooting off the bench or prone.

Something like this might also work, but I would have to see how stiff it was so it wouldn't slowly collapse down. http://www.kmart.com/shc/s/p_10151_1...061224x0000002

Whoaaaa Vaughn!

Awsome Idea!!!! and now you got me rummaging through the garage with the old coolers and evaluating how a leather bunnie ear bag can be screwed onto the lid!

Now looking for a way to mount a spotting scope with aluminum arm off the side and don't forget the beer can holder and the wall mounted bottle opener on the side and now your talkin!

Have I left something off?

One of those wireless security cameras, so you don't need to bring along a spotting scope.
