I ended up trading some tools I never used for a 1981-1982 10/22. They gig said it was a shooter. Looks like all he did was shoot it. I don't think it's ever been cleaned. The stock has a home refinish job but I plan in doing away with it anyway. All in all after about three hours of work, I think I came out pretty good. He even threw in 150 rounds of 9mm ammo.

Wow that's unreal that someone would shoot it to that point without attempting to clean it.

I don't think I've ever seen a gun that dirty.

A home refinish job on the stock? Wow. I can only imagine...

Dollars to donuts the stock was refinished with the action still in it. Surely if he'd taken the action out of the stock to refinish, he would have had a "holy crap, this thing's filthy" moment and done something about it.

I'm not real sure why anybody would try and paint the sights but oh we'll. from what I can tell the barrel is in pretty good shape. When I took everything apart the stock has DEC 10 stamped on the inside where the barrel sits. The serial number starts with 122 so that is where I came but with the 1981-1982 date range. I had a 10/22 a few years back but it got stolen. I have just recently been able to get back into shooting. I now have this gun and also a USA blue takedown that I love! Still working on replacing the MK II competition that was stolen also.
