Blinder, what are the prices of second hand guns around your area or on gunbroker. My vote is for a Sako Quad, but I'm biased of course.

And once you have fired a gun it's second hand anyway.

I have a Ruger American that shoots very impressively, great magazine, and the aluminum block in stock ensures solid, consistent contact with receiver. I also like the deep black blueing on barrel. Trigger is dang nice out of the box, but itís easy to change springs and make reeeeeal nice.

SWFA has many types of .17hmr on sale for the cheapest I've seen in 8 years.
Most are in the low to mid $7.00 range.

Shipping is only $9.99.

Thanks to tbates66 for the heads up.

If new then savage b17 heavy barrels I prefer they are better than cz in the accuracy department. Older savages, marlin,or nef are other suggestions but they seen to bring as much as new

For cheap accuracy, I can't think of anything that beats a used Savage, but then again I'm not familiar with the Marlins outside the M60....
