CZ 3/8" Medium?

Log in to see fewer ads
I have a Grand Finale that come with engraved rings that I would like to use but they are very high... work great with a 60 mm objective but are too tall for any scope I would like to put on this gun.

Question: does CZ make a medium 3/8" inch ring that I could swap the engraved tops of these high rings?

Afraid not, and I don't know if you've tried but its likely those 3/8" rings won't tighten on your rifle either, seems CZ engraved 3/8's dovetail rings to go on a 11mm receiver which just won't work.

Well I may just be wrong about the receivers, CZ USA has just told me the rings sent out were out of spec rather than the receiver being 11mm, they're sending me replacement rings so we'll see.

The Grande Finale only came on the 452, at least so far.

That's what I thought initially... you never know with CZ.

So it's an American?... or does it have an 11mm rail?

Assuming the Grande Finale is essentially a gussied up 452 American, it has an alleged 3/8" integral rail. I say "alleged" as I've read and heard more than a few comments that rings for its 3/8" rail often don't fit very well. I've used Leupold 13mm Rimfire Scope Rings and they work great. I believe they are available in both Medium and High versions.

Unfortunately there were never any highs in that series... or if there were, there hasn't been for a long while... just mediums and lows. In regards to CZ's, the lows are pretty much useless and the mediums would only clear a limited number of scopes with smaller eyepieces. I wish there was high height in these... been longing for a set.

Another to look at with a decent height selection for CZ's 3/8" rail is Talley 100000 series rings. The last number is supposed to be the height in tenths of an inch... ie 100004 are ." high. If I recall the are 100003 - 100006... anyway, quality rings if you don't mind vertical split.

Another consideration would be Warne rings. Theirs have a dual attachment as the base can be flipped and support either 11mm or 3/8's dovetails. I have Warne rings on several of my 45x rifles. I normally use the high option (.525") in order to get bolt clearance on 452 & 455 actions for the larger scope oculars. All mine are matte finish but they do make a gloss, but not sure how that would match up with the 452 GF finish.

https://warnescopemounts.com/product...h-matte-rings/

Look at the specs on each ring type as they give you the various heights from the dovetail to the bottom of the ring. I've used a mixture of Talley, Warne, Leupold on my rimfires over the years. I have had challenges with Leupolds not fitting correctly on CZ's from time to time but the Warnes always seem to fit and they are made of steel.

On my GF I have used the Leupold 13mm medium rings for scopes with an objective of less than 40mm and Talley 100005 for scopes with a 40mm or larger objective. The Leupold rings fit the oddball dovetail very well, the Talley rings fit perfectly.

My only reason for using the CZ's is their engraving in the same style as the rifle, otherwise I'd likely go with Talley as I have a set sitting here.

The rings supplied tighten up just fine... .500" across the top so they should be 3/8" I have a Bushnell 6-18 x "way to big" ..it fit's nice 1/16" clearance off the barrel... I was looking to put a Leupold 2-7x 28RF or even go as big as a 3-9x40.
