I have heard that the volquartsen 10/22 barrels have an .025" oversize barrel shank. I have ordered a 10/22 mag snake fluted barrel and am wondering how difficult will it be to put the barrel in and remove it for normal cleaning? Does anyone have experience with this type of concern? Thanks
Have had tight fits with GM barrels and simply took fine grit wet/dry sand paper and lightly sanded the shank til I got a snug fit. Just go slow, sanding evenly around the shank and test often, using a very light coat of oil to help with the test fit. You want a tight fit. You shouldn't need to remove the barrel for normal cleaning.
My VQ Tensioned, compensated barrel slipped in with absolutely no problem. Just took moderate pressure to seat it.
Guess the tolerance on my receiver was on the > side.
