Does anyone know what year Ruger first offered the deluxe sporter? Looks like the one below except the originals had a plastic butt plate.

I bought one for myself last year as a Christmas present to myself, a stainless model. I use it as my "longfeller" late season squirrel gun.

A Deluxe Sporter was my first .22 (which I still have). I bought it new in 1976 for $77. Funny how I can remember what I paid for each of my firearms over the past 40 years, but forget what I had for dinner on any given day last week...

I just bought a Deluxe Sporter stock, I already have the Finger Groove Sporter and the International, so I figured this would round out the collection

I'm wondering if the DSP stock ever had a red rubber pad?...I've had them with the black plastic and black rubber, but I don't remember ever seeing a red one

Wife got me a DSP for Christmas 2008, $199. Just like the photo. I've added a 22 Mag scope, homemade nylon buffer and homemade 1 inch web sling.

I don't understand it coming with fixed one inch swivels, but they work okay for me, so never changed them.

FWIW, Birchwood Casey Super Blue touches up the oxide finish barrel perfectly, Aluminum Black on the receiver.

I just picked up one this week. Perfect condition, it has a rail mount, VQ rod and charge handle, BX trigger, and mag release. I put on a Bushnell 4x12 rimfire scope. After this heat passes hope to zero this coming week.

Don't let the memory thing get you down, you have plenty of company.

Here’s mine. Fresh of my assembly line! Just put on a 20 in GM sporter barrel, JWH bolt and handle . The DSP is one of my favorite 1022 models.

Here is my trio

The top is an original Finger Groove Sporter, with a vintage barrel, trigger assembly and bolt but newer receiver

Next is my new Deluxe Sporter with a steel receiver, Pike Arms aluminum trigger assembly and new take off barrel (high polish blue on the steel parts)

bottom is my International model with same parts as the DSP

nice

funny, both my fingergroove (a repro) and DSP have been fitted with 19" GM HT barrels, and I was thinking of chopping one down to 18.5" to fit a mannlicher...you know, to complete the set

Have the same idea. Did you float the barrel?

The GM 20 in sporter barrels larger in circumference than the stock barrel , and so I sanded out the barrel channel till it fit and then a little more so it floated. , then I put a double layer bicycle inner tube under the barrel just in front of the v block. I find that it usually works well there. Aluminum Tape bedded the receiver in the back and on the sides .

As for using a HT 19 inch , don’t chop it down , a little barrel protruding from the Mannlicher gives it a unique look. But I don’t know if the end cap would fit?
