Picked up a nice Beeman R-10 today; West German/Santa Rosa markings. Is this the same rifle as a HW85? Any other info appreciated.

From what I understand performance wise, yes. Beeman back in the day usually had cosmetic differences their models and the corresponding Weihrauch models with the Beeman being the more desirable of the two.

Tnx 56S! Shot it today...very accurate rifle. Had one mistake tho; cheap pellets must be wee bit small; one must have fallen out as I closed the breech...Yep, it was a dry fire. Loud....rifle seems fine. Don't think one dry-fire will cause a major problem, but don't want this to happen again!! I need better pellets.

Every air gun I've owned shot the Crosman domed or HP domed pellets well. Even the tins from Walmart did OK for the price. The boxed domes are of a higher quality and the tins from Walmart are unfairly called floor sweepings. The tins aren't as consistent in diameter and finish as the boxed domes but the price is right for plinking. You probably already know to stay away from the alloy pellets. An old saying about airguns. A slow hit is better than a fast miss.
