Greg:

I haven't seen a Walther Metallic Silhouette on the market in a while. A few Walther Running Boar rifles (similar thumbhole stock design) have surfaced on gunbroker over the winter, but have not sold due to high asking prices. So hard to put a price on either model. You looking at a single shot?

Example:

jrose, only if you are very wealthy. Not only are parts usually outrageously overpriced, there is a shortage of many parts and others are not in existence. KKM era rifles have not been manufactured for many, many years and the company that made them is no longer in existence, it was bought out by another group which uses the same name but specializes in handguns, etc. They don't even respond to e-mail inquires about KKM-era rifles. If you shoot a Walther you always hope nothing breaks as you will end up with an expensive wallhanger. Many times the only source of parts is when someone is parting out a rifle. Having said all that, I have five Walther target rifle, I shoot them regularly, and am looking for a sixth. So much for worrying over one of them breaking.

By the way, you might wish to confirm that the barrel is original. It appears to be longer than other examples of the MS that I have seen. If it is not original, it lowers the price significantly.

Walther KKMS Rifle

Wahoo57, thank you for your response. I was looking at a different rifle, not the OP.
my thoughts were verified, no parts available.

Well, that's an anniversary model, so that might raise the value a little. But some moron threaded the barrel for who knows what reason, that lowers the value.

Assuming it functions correctly, make sure the safety works (I have one where the safety doesn't), etc. I'd say $1000 or so.

KK-MS's are nice rifles, every bit as nice as an Anschutz 54.18 msr. And generally go for a lot less money. I was going to send you a pm with more detailed info but I can't from my phone.

Just my experience

John

Have to take issue with the necessity of a functional safety. So the safety on a single shot action doesn't work, so what have you lost? You simply raise the bolt handle a little and the rifle will not fire. If there is one thing I can easily do without it is the safety. I fully understand a collector wanting to replace/repair a safely so his item will be as issued but to me it is a waste of time and money to repair a defective safety. Raising the bolt is much safer than trusting a safety and just as quick. JMHO.

stippling

I was just admiring all that stippling. I'm practicing with a small nailset, and it's working very well; but it would take me a month to cover that much area. I wonder how they do it.

Thanks. I saw those, but I was afraid the pattern would be too uniform.....and I'm a cheapskate.
