My wife and I have been casual rimfire shooters most of our adult lives. Now approaching retirement, we have been contemplating participating in fun matches like Steel or Rimfire Challenge. Mostly for travel and comraderie. We think it would be fun to say “hey look, there’s a match in Idaho” (we live in Mississippi).

What I really wanted to ask the folks here if it would be ethical or practical if we build one set of weapons for both to use in the start up.

I had in mind building up the 1022 we have now and acquire a 2245 for a build. Both with a reflex sight, I read the C- more is popular.

Your comments, opinions, and advice would be greatly appreciated.

Of course! It just means taking turns on the firing line.

Anytime a couple can share a hobby or activity it is a major plus. Go for it. Eventually you will each get your own but sharing is great. Be proud if she out shoots you.

Well, first of all, the two of you should be shooting our March fun match in this forum.. 😉

If you both like the gun or guns you have now, the only reasons I can see not to share would be different sight settings for each shooter (my wife and I clash on this) and the possibility of a single relay in some matches. Quite a few of the matches I shoot are set up this way.

One of the clubs I belong to has a husband and wife duo that compete against each other, other than some mild trash talking when she wins (pretty funny) it goes well. They each have their own rifles.

I see a lot of families sharing firearms for matches.

A word of advise, get lots of magazines (10 minimum) for each gun. That way you can shoot back to back without reloading.

My wife and I are unable to share guns due to differences in our vision, so we each have our own, plus the mentioned "lots of magazines". We have tons of fun.
