I had to look, 18X only $1200 to $3200! Yes, put it on all your rifles as the wife suggested!

Somebody shoot me...actually I probably shouldn't say that on a gun forum...Tom

Did you tell her the truth, which is that if you did, she would divorce you?

That's what I was thinking. She probably thinks it's a $300 scope.

I recently purchased a used Sako Quad with a Bushnell 6500 2.5-16x42 on it and I have been extremely impressed with it. The Bushnell will focus down to 10 yards and the glass is easily as clear as my Leupolds.

I see that Bushnell has done away with this scope, but if I were to come across another one, I could see adding it to the collection.

That little Quad with the Bushnell has become my go to squirrel rifle, especially on days when the weather is questionable...

The Bushnell 4500 Elite 6-24X as well as the Bushnell Elite 6500 (30mm tube) 4.5-30X are both great scopes too. And, unfortunately, also discontinued. Weaver has also discontinued some very good scopes. I continue to be amazed at the marketing "wisdom" of these scope manufacturers (a la Leupold).

Doug - If the 4500 6-24 is gone, I'll be a bit upset

You will recall I put one on my Cooper following your recommendation. Just picked up another from the US for my wife's 1710. I've just had another look as I wanted one more for a Lithgow but looks like they're gone - For now at least.

It really is discouraging, Allan, as it seems the Bushnell 4500 series scopes have been phased out. Natchez looked to be the last source, with only the 4-16X still available. Haven't heard or read anything about what the "new and improved" versions will be or when they might happen. Leupold and Weaver have also discontinued some off their best, most popular scope models. Leupold's VX-2 series in 4-12X AO and 6-18X AO still have not been replaced, though a Leupold rep said to watch for next SHOT show.

It seems strange that the makers of the popular, quality (vs super premium) scopes have been phasing them out. And worse, with little apparent effort to replace them. Is there something going on in the lens manufacturing arena or is it another issue that extends across the industry.

Well after all this time I still have not picked a scope yet. I did mounted a Zeiss 3 X10 Conquest HD on it which is nice for hunting and 50 yard work. I still want something that can get to 20X for those days I want to punch paper at 100 yards. I was watching a Bushnell Elite 6 X 24 on Flea Bay but boy did it go up at the end. I have and Elite 4 X 12 on my Volquartsen and it has been a good scope.

also be on the lookout for a BAUSCH AND LOMB SERIES 4000 scope in 6-20x40 in gloss finish very fine scopes. That scope will not break the bank either. A caveat might be getting service for it thru Bushnell if needed.

I have seen those but was wondering if you could get service for them. Look pretty much the same scope as the Bushnell.

Well ended up picking up a Bushnell 4200. Went with a 4 x 16. Came from flea bay and by far was the nicest condition used scope I have ever bought.

I have one of those. actually think the glass on it is better than the 4200 6-20.
