Chet: Upgrade to a VQ bolt and you won't need a slide racker. bob

The best one I found, and use is the On Tactical XL, but good luck finding one. The Tactical Solutions Ruger Racker is a polymer one. The XL is aluminum.

That's what I did on my MK IV Target and I love it! Going to add same to my MK IV 22/45 Tactical. Not only easier to rack the bolt but it feels like the bolt moves smoother too!

hello Bob

going to be using the pistol for some steel challenge shoots, i don't feel that volq type bolt racker would be as fast as the single sided racker in case of a jam going against the clock.

Chet: For my money the VQ bolt offers so many advantages and no disadvantages over the stock Ruger bolt including no need for a racker. I've not seen a racker that is as efficient as the back end of a VQ bolt.

I strongly suggest you try one if you have the chance, unless of course you have no desire to spend the $$ to obtain one. Nothing wrong with slide rackers and if one works for you then go for it. Me, I prefer the TK design over others I've seen.

HI Bob

i am happy with the stock bolt at the moment, deciding now on optics, either the TRS 25 or the Holosun 507c

Chet: The Holosun 507c is said to be an excellent optic. I have standardized on the Holosun 403B...not the most elegant looking but they outperform the others for me.

I sold off my TRS-25's. I could not get used to the bulge in the optic at the 5 oclock point. They guys I sold them to are happy. bob

HI Bob
i checked out the 403b, curious if it would work for fast steel challenge shooting vs the 507c, i want to get away from just a dot reticle, seems like i might be faster for target shooting with the circle and dot that the 507c offers, does the 403b offer the same reticle as the 507c

Chet: Look at the 503c (I think thats right). It has the circle and dot, just circle or just dot. I have one and leave it on dot only. Virtually the same sight picture as the 403B. bob
