How does your T1x like to be held?

Iím a new shooter. My first rifle was my T1x. I have a kit 1200-1300 rounds down the barrel and just realized I have no idea what Iím doing when it comes to holding the rifle when shooting lol.

Iím using Harris bipod and rear bag. I typically barely hold the rifle. Super light grip, stick lightly resting into my shoulder... with good results. The last time I was out I tried a firm grip, and tightly pressed into my shoulder. Interesting results. I would always get a flyer or two, but the shots that werenít fliers were tight tiny little groups (but there was always a flyer or two).

Iím just striving to shoot as accurately as possible, and was hoping you could share how you address the rifle, specifically when shooting.

Thanks!

What caliber T1X? If its 17hmr you're pissing in the wind. 17hmr ammo varies in quality and will throw a flier in nearly every 5 shot group. No matter what rifle.

as long as your hold is consistent from shot to shot, any hold will work. having said that a gentle grip is easier to replicate than a firm grip. 22 rimfire will teach you "follow through" meaning not to flinch or jerk the trigger because of the extended period of time the bullet is travelling down the barrel.

Tighter grips are much harder to be consistent with. I prefer a lighter grip and light triggers whenever possible. I shoot a lot of springer air rifles and a similar light hold works well for me with rifles upto 223. Larger calibers than that I struggle to get consistent accuracy because multiple muscle tensions are hard to duplicate over and over again. Muscle tension is relieved under hard recoil and if it's not evenly applied the rifle will throw the shot. To add to the difficulty is different rifles require different holds so it can be hard to shoot all them great back to back. Get good with your Tikka before playing with more rifles. Also have you lightened your trigger pull yet?
