Did you make it to the ARA match today, in Ohio?
I didn’t go after all. I managed to test the 452 in its original stock and it wasn’t performing at least that day. After pulling 67.5 hours at work this week I didn’t want to drive two hours to come in middle of the pack. I think the big heavy scope sitting on top of the factory wooden stock upset the balance or something, If I would have had time I could have experimented with action screw torque settings, rubber strip tuning and different hold techniques and probably improved a bit. It had been a while since I shot it in the factory stock. I never thought the chassis or even the Pro Varmint stock would make that much difference in accuracy over the stock stock, but I was wrong. What’s funny is I would have been competing against CZ’s that come in those stocks.

Sorry it didn't work out, Appalachian2. I am really enjoying shooting the monthly ARA club match, here in Arizona, and improving a bit every time.

Some of these bullet holes donít look to be cutting through the 100line and being scored 50. Am I missing something?

If it tears the paper out side the line? Not the bullet hole but a tear?

Just wondering

Don't feel to bad, Chuck. I went out with the USBR target this morning and lost 15 points from my usual average. (And my usual average isn't great in the first place!)

Are you asking about the target I posted right above your post? If so the 50 score was determined by using a scoring gauge.

Well I messed something up when I started to play with action screw torque. Hopefully I will find the magic spot again.

Hope you find your lost points soon.

I think my lost points were somewhere in the vast open space between my ears so no telling where they went

Yea. Target 25 and 7 look the same. Inside the 100line. You scored 25 a 50.
And 17

Thanks for asking about scoring. I determine the score from the visual edge of the scoring plug. I do use OnTarget TDS program and usually go with what the computer says. I do have it reinstalled on my computer now. Replaced the hard drive. OnTarget does give me an extra 100 points. finale score of 1950.

Hear is the target run through OnTarget:

And here is the data sheet from OnTarget:
Please note that the data sheet shows 50yds. the target was shot at 25yds.

Dunlop

Good morning Dunlop

I'm posting as "factory" since it is an out of the box rifle but there is some ambiguity about the price. MSRP busts the limit, but retail when I bought it was below

Ruling requested.

I have no ideal on how to determine a ruling. I am not a dictator here so I suggest we let your fellow shooters decide. Only the regular shooters chime in. (this is any one that has shot here in the last 3 months including Dunlop). Is this a fair way of deciding issues here?

"Factory" (see above)
Dunlop
Bergara B14R, steel, LH; Lapua Center-X, 2300 @ 25 yards
Element Helix 6-24x50 FFP @ 16X
Harris Bipod and Protektor rear bag
88 F, wind variable up to 8 mph per weather app
[Lame Excuses - had to double up with ear muffs, because of a .308 AR two benches down.]

"Factory"
Dunlop
Bergara B14R, steel, LH; Lapua Center-X, 2300 @ 25 yards
Element Helix 6-24x50 FFP @ 16X
Caldwell Rock BR front and Protektor rear bag
88 F, wind variable up to 8 mph per weather app

Great targets by the way.

Thanks for the opportunity to join in. I'll try at 25 again next month.
I guess I will stick with the fun matches because IMO 7-17-50 are all the same and not breaking the 100 point line.

Excuse me for the ignorant question. Do you scan the target in the computer?

I look at this as something to enjoy and help me improve so am not really that concerned about the classes.

My opinion would be to have Dunlop in the "Factory" class with his purchase price under $1,000.00 on a relatively recent rifle model. I have a similar situation where I purchased the CZ 457 Precision Chassis just last November with an MSRP of $995.00 and purchase price of $880.00. Two months later CZ raised the MSRP to $1039.00 putting me technically over the limit. ARA has since made the ruling that "All" current model CZ are legal so it isn't an issue for matches or rankings with my rifle.

I guess some may be concerned where people purchased truly high end target rifles years ago that would have been under the price at that time but considerably more today.

We see this question come up on many of the matches and there isn't an easy answer. For the online matches I really don't care what rifle I am competing against and can simply take it into consideration when reading the results posted. (Not like there is national ranking or prizes at the end. This is supposed to be fun.)

Just my opinion.
Robert
