Brno Model 1 Butt Plate

I recently purchased a really nice ZG 47 that had a shattered butt plate with most of it missing. I searched for an original butt plate for several weeks with no luck. I really wanted an original that used the same screw holes and looked original. So I gave up and made my own. I had another ZG with a pretty nice butt plate for a copy. First photo is the reproduction next the original used as a pattern. I had a little mold making material left over and some plastic resin so I decided to do a Model 1 butt plate also since I needed one of those as well. Here is a photo of a couple of "copies" with the casting sprues still on them. Point being that with the materials available to the handyman, you can make a lot of stuff! I may do a B Model Mauser 22 butt plate someday, but you can find this on the net so why go to the trouble?

John

Nice job!

I bet there's a market for a few of those since they seem to be unobtanium elsewhere.

Estimate that the market

is at least 100, up to 500 just here in the USA.. .

That is sweet.
I would love to see pictures of your mold and to hear more about your process.

I second that. I could always use a new butt plate.
