I have a 77/17hmr with the boat paddle stock, and I'm gonna get a new barrel in 22wmr....what would be the best way to open the barrel channel for a carbon fiber Volquartsen barrel?

I'd get a wooden dowel a little bigger than the new barrel and wrap it in some sand paper and go to town.

It works

I did a conversion like above, it gets a little things up top. The first one I screwed up, second one is sanded down till it got thin. Not wanting to go to far I put a small spacer in the front action screw and it was the best option I've found.

Put a layer of painters tape over the new barrel and then wrap the barrel with sand paper and use it to sand out the barrel channel.
