No I did not..... sort of... Found a bunch of Rem 541's, several low end Stevens Crack Shots, there was a guy with several Coopers including a "Cooper Classic" which had been tagged as a "Western Classic", but one of the guys at the hunt was at the show on Saturday and "called" him on it so when I got there Sunday it was tagged "Classic" which it really was. Takes all kinds. I did pick up some Eley 17 Mach II ammo though. Now I have the ammo but no gun. Wife says, "I guess you need another rifle now, right."

I did not want to use any of these as donor guns as they wee all to nice to mess with. That Classic would sure make a great 17 Mach II but.....

I am going to keep watching the gun sites and some shows. Who knows, I may just stumble into something already made.

I am still exploring. Thanks for asking

Remington 581 with a Simmons 22 MAG scope. Pretty crude but gets the job done.

Any of my rimfires would make a nice tree squirrel gun in general.
The one I enjoy the most is my CZ 453 22lr with a 12x Nikon rimfire in CZ rings. Favorite ammo is Eley SS Hp. Its my "any time" squirrel gun close or farther shots, leaves or no leaves, its the only one I take now.
Guess that makes it my dedicated squirrel gun, yet not a dedicated squirrel gun because I use it for target work too.

I have the same set up! Mine is a shooter with that combo. I only paid $75 for the gun because the trigger was gummed up. After a 5 minute cleaning, it was driving tacks.

My suggestion: find a remington 580 and build it on that. Pull barrel, thread receiver, install 17m2 barrel of your choice. Have trigger worked. Put in stock of your choice. Done.

I have .any 22 rifles. Unfortunately, I do not hunt squirrels. I have always wanted to but need a teacher.

I have two Marlin Glenfield Model 25's. One is the first rifle I ever bought. Got it from the Sears store in my hometown. The second I came by recently. Both carry Nikon 3x9 rimfire scopes.
I just bought a Savage MKll in 17 hmr this wears a 4x12 Nikon rimfire scope.
That rifle got it's first kill Saturday.

Squirrel hunted as a kid, as I got older I started bow hunting for deer. Still older yet I decided to get back to basics and enjoy just sitting in the woods hunting squirrels.

Kidd light weight classic. 18” barrel.

I have 5 rimfire rifles in .22 that I routinely use for small game and pest control, but only one that I use exclusively for squirrels. That rifle is a Suppressor Ready CZ455. That rig always wears a suppressor and is very quiet with anything subsonic. So quiet, I often take it along with me while deer hunting. If things get slow, will take a shot or two. Doesn’t seem to impact how many deer I see as long as I don’t get carried away. Not uncommon to come back to deer camp with 3-4 squirrels after sitting in a stand for a couple hours.

My Belgian SA22 with Leupold 2-7 is about ideal.
I go along wih StdVel. I started out at 10 years of age [1950] shooting the family Rem Mdl 24. Squirrels, rabbits, pigeons, gophers and any other unwanted critter on the farm was fair game.

I had to retire the Mdl 24, it couldn't handle HV ammo after about 4 years of my everyday usage. For about 5 years I switched to a Win Mdl 62 I bought with money I earned detasseling corn. It did everything I wanted it to do. It would actually shoot quicker than my Mdl 24. But my first year off at college somebody broke in our house and stole all my family firearms, except for the Mdl 24, which was somehow overlooked or unwanted.

The next summer [1960] I bought a Browning SA Belgium wheel sight. To this day it is my go to .22 for rabbits, squirrels, or any critter that a quick follow-up shot might be needed. I have had several scopes on it, but my current one is perhaps the best of all. It is a Nikon 3x9 AO with EFR reticle.

Shooting Aguila SE HV 40 gr PRN, it will shoot .5 -.7 in. groups ar 50 yd.s. all day long. For pigeons, starlings, etc. [and paper punching] I use my CZs, Zastavas, Savage MKIIg; and my Henry H001 kind of falls in-between.

The Browning SA has no competition when it comes to squirrels, bunnies and armadillos.

Everything in my safe is dedicated to squirrel hunting. Too many to list, but my go to rifles are split between the Remschutz 504 22lr(Remington 504 with an Anschutz Barrel) and a CZ 452 American 22lr.
