I came into a takedown barrel and BX Trigger. What options do I have to run a budget rifle build? I don't see many people selling factory receivers and I read that the Brownells doesn't fit aftermarket bolts reliably.

Brownells is the only one found. Dont know about the bolts but they are a good company and back their stuff. Make sure you look for coupons.

Great information!

I got a Brownell's railed 10/22 receiver and required minor fitting for a JWH custom bolt

Brownells just dropped coupons also

I wonder how the brownells td receiver will match up with my Kidd bolt. Can anyone point me in the direction of “fitting” it if it doesn’t?

It should fit fine. If you cant get it in, read the posts about how the brownells internal bolt rail , on the inside of the receiver is likely the problem, and requires a little filing on corne at the end of the rail.

I just got a Brownells Railed Takedown Receiver and JWH Match bolt kit. I lightly polished the bolt with a dremel and some rouge, lubed it with the Slip 2000 that JWH sent, and barely slid it in the receiver. No Filing. It fits real tight but functions and I expect it to break in nicely. I worked it by hand about twenty or so times and has loosened up already.

I bought a standard stainless receiver from S&P to build my first 10/22. It was the best price I found and the KIDD barrel I added to it fit rights in.
