Buy Kidd receiver or wait on Victor Titan Spike???

I want to take full advantage of my Titan stock, so initially I was thinking of getting a Kidd receiver to use the Titan / Kidd rear anchor. Looking at the Victor website I see they are releasing a product called the spike that doesn’t require a Kidd receiver or machining / gunsmithing.

I guess I’m wondering if there has been any info released on the Spike or if anyone has beta tested it?

I did just that and bought the Kidd receiver:

Then I found out that CPC would setup a receiver to take a rear tang. Now Victor is coming out with the Spike. <grumble, grumble>

Might as well get used to the whimpering sounds made by my debit card as I approach it considering the fact that I'll likely buy another Titan (or 2) with the new Spike and other Titan goodies. <sigh>

Will KIDD put a rear tang in the Magul stock build he does?

So is there any advantage to the Titan over a KIDD-built Magpul with the rear tang?

I prefer the design and feel of the Titan stock over the X-22... particularly the pistol grip angle.

The Titan feels better to me, and fits me very well. Very stiff, with a vertical grip like a benchrest stock. The Magpul might be better in the field, but that's not my primary use.

The complete setup is about $100 more with the Magpul from Kidd, but that wasn't a factor in my decision. Kidd beds the Magpul and installs the rear tang, the Titan is adjustable tension on the rear tang to allow tuning and has it's own aluminum block systen for bedding. Kidd modifies the Magpul to allow for barrel removal with the action still in the stock, but the rear hold-down bolts in from the top - so if you want to clean through the rear hole, you will probably have to remove the scope. The Titan bolts up from the bottom, which makes adjusting the tension easy and allows the scope to travel with the barreled action for cleaning..

I was building a gun to use primarily use off the bench, and chose the Titan. If I had been trying to build a hunter or wanted to shoot with a variety of barrels, the Magpul would have won out.

From past posts, looks like CPC only does the Kidd rear tang as an add on to his 10/22 tune up. Meaning it would be more than buying a new Kidd receiver.

There might be a guy named AZguy that will mill a receiver for a Kidd rear tang. Anyone know him or if he still does the service?

Keep in mind that the rear tang bolt threads in from the bottom on the VT and from the top on the magpul. Unless you don't have a scope or you remove it, it takes a little finesse with the magpul. With the VT you can get a torque driver on it.
