581T?

I was looking in Numrich at the schematics for the 580 series of rifles when I saw a listing for a 581T! Has anyone ever seen a Remington 581T? I checked the search engine but the only other thing that came up was a ghost Ebay listing for a 581T magazine. Numrich show only a magazine catch for it.

I've never heard of one either. There's also nothing about a 581T in John and Roy's book and a search of this section for "581T" turns up nada

The guy selling the magazine on ebay is mixing up the 581 & 541-T

Aha, Pat, I think you may have hit on it -- it's a 581 in a 541-T stock. I actually have one sorta close to that. It's a 581 in a 541-S stock, but it also has a Benchmark 3-groove sporter barrel.

I was thinking he was conflating with the 541X.

Talking You'd think.....

Numrich wouldn't have a listing for it if it didn't exist! I never heard of one wandering through here for a few years! AND... They list an "Out of stock" part for it.

I bought the rifle from a member who, Im guessing here, probably got it from an estate sale.. I think hes a dealer.
Anyway the action is glass bedded with a second action screw.
The action is threaded with a 22 heavy barrel screwed in.
It has a Timney trigger which is awesome.
And, the butt plate is wooden.

Oh, the barrel is fully free floated.

Its set up as a single shot, but Im on a waiting list for a magazine guide, latch, and screw to convert it back to a repeater, and I have two 5 round stainless steel magazines made by a member here.

My wife and I are going to practice on a 10/22 stock to carve flutes and around the grip cap and then refinish and if that turns out good, well do the same on the 581.
