Has anybody ever determined how many model 59 targets were manufactured?

I don't think so. I have one and thought it was a put together until I spoke to JWA. They do exist, and I doubt, in quantity. Big Larry

I truely believe they are in the rare class. We need JWA's input on these, but I think he is out of the country right now. Big Larry

I found another one last year (and bought it) so I now have 2 of them. I have only seen the ones mentioned above in the last 35 years so I believe they did not make many of them. All 6 of the ones mentioned are identical in components and inletting except for the front sight, as I have seen a couple of them with the Lyman 17A in front.

Best Regards,

A great find. Most M59's I have seen are beaters. I know as I have 3 M59's, but the best of the lot is my target M59. One has been refreshed, and looks real nice, but, refreshed? Nice word for restored. Re blued sounds a little on the side of junk, IMHO.
For a collector of Winchester 22's, this and a M1900 are all but impossible to find. Big Larry
