Rem 582 secone action screw?

I'm trying to bed this 582 so how do I stabilize the action if I float the barrel? I'm willing to drill holes or do whatever it takes, as long as it works and doesn't really hack up the action.

I don't know about the 582 since it has the tube. On a pair of 581's I have a second action screw in them where the screw in front of the trigger guard was.

I have seen them put into the tang area, at the rear of the trigger guard. I will be doing my 582 as well soon.

in my opinion a floated barrel on a tube magazine rifle will do nothing to increase accuracy - vibrations + different tension on barrel as magazine load changes -

For the 582 there is no difference in tension between a fully loaded tube and empty, the support is dovetailed into the bottom of the barrel and just has a hole the magazine tube slides in. Only difference would be weight of the tube and vibrations. I've been toying with an idea fro supporting the tube by the stock, externally so it could be removed prior to pulling it out of the stock.
