Good deal, lots of folks felt the "chip" in the A17 could be the secret to a successful .17m2 semi-auto...kudos to Savage if it proves out and it most likely will.

Quick question Eric. Is it the same size action as 17hmr version or a 22lr scaled? I think you said scaled down in the video but I'm not sure.

Thanks again Eric, I hope they'll be on the market before squirrel season. AWESOME NEWS, gun makers do listen I guess.

If this rifle shoots the Hornady 15.5gr NTX accurate I’m in. Hopefully it’s available before squirrel season.

I'll pick one up when they come out with a laminate stock version, I won't buy another plastic one after a Bmag….

Eric, you mention in your link about 'why no WSM'. I think it is a lot easier than you think to scale the HMR version of the rifle to WSM. Yes, more pressure, but that is what the locking block design is meant to deal with. Volquartsen is taming the WSM with a huge amount of mass in the breech block, the A17 design can handle it via it's inherent clever design. A modest increase in mass, and tuning the locking with spring rate and handle mass. The WSM magazine is basically a big HMR magazine, so that is already a plus. If Butler Creek concurrently released a 20 round magazine with a HB laminate stocked A17WSM, it would be an epic combo for varmints. Well that is my dream anyway!

Good review, but I've never liked the A17 so I'll wait for some regular guys to give their opinions about the A17-17Mach2.

I will buy one when they come out...

I plan to buy one, and I can take my Ruger 10/22 conversion and switch it back to a 22 LR and not worry about being blown up.

I will be keeping an eye on the reviews as well. If it comes out in the laminate stock I would be very interested!

If I could configure my own it'd be in an Archangel Precision stock, it'd be stainless and have a heavy threaded 16" barrel.

Agreed. I'll get one, for sure, but the lack of customization bugs me. I have a JARD trigger in my A-17hmr (great trigger!) but that's about all you can do to these guns without a gunsmith and a pile of money.

Thank you Eric!
I heard rumors of this and am glad they were true!
If they can get the barrel consistency tuned, this will be the vanguard for the Mach2.
With luck we'll see this great cartridge snowball in popularity. Finally.

not that I'm a fan or anything. . .

For years my truck license plate has been spreading the word "17Mach2" everywhere I go !

Sorry for the delayed reply. I left for a 4-day Nevada hunt the morning I published the article/video! It would have been a lot of fun if I had one of these A17 rifles with me!

The action seems to be the same size. Once I get a production model in hand, I will be doing a side-by-side comparison with the A17 in 17HMR.

It works! I'm waiting to test a production model at the range though!

Nice! You are correct, if this rifle is everything it should be, it will change the landscape for the 17 Mach 2 for a long time!

I'll have more information soon!
