17hm2 now sub $7

I just picked up 1000 rounds for $6.79 per box from SGAmmo. Shipping from SG is very reasonable, $26 for a 53 lb box shipped from OKC to Oregon. Ammomen has it for $6.00 per box but only had 9 boxes in stock and the shipping was higher.

This is the first time I have bought ammo since 2007 or so when it was $4 for eley...guess it's time to dust off the ol' hm2!

Good sign, the market must becoming saturated. Letís hope dealers continue to stock it.

If we keep buying it, I'm sure they will! I'm going to (mostly) switch over from HMR now that mach 2 is available at a significant savings now.

I want to order some of the lead free ammo in anticipation of next year's ban on lead. Should be so much better than lead free 22 LR.... Lead free 17hmr is ok.

I thought CA banned lead like a decade ago? Most (all?) My buddies who do small game hunting down there just ignore the rule.

I bought a case from SGAmmo, the 17Hm2 in Hornadys 17 grain fodder. It shoots reasonably well, but not as good as my old eley. Mine was $705.00 to my door, I thought that was reasonable!

Incramentalism sucks

The ban of 2007 only affected the mountainous parts of the state and the final end game goes into effect next June. I agree it will be mostly ignored by old timers on their own land, but it's good to have some lead free on hand in case you have a warden show up. They will from time to time. It will continue to be legal shooting lead at paper targets. The state says they have had a very high compliance rate on the initial ban but I don't think people are being honest answering those kinds of questions on any survey. Lead free 22 sucks but mach 2 should still be accurate. The lead free 17 hmr I've tried shot really well and I will use it. I've stopped buying lead rimfire for hunting. Will I use 100% lead free all the time after next year? "Of course......." rc

How many come in a case? Target Sports USA says 40 boxes or 2000rnds. I thought it'd be 50 boxes

a case is 100 boxes...5,,000 rounds, which, by the way, can be had at SWFA $669 + shipping.

Federal Cases were 5000

Federal 17hm2 came in a 5000 round lot. I purchased 1 through CDNN back when it was everywhere for cheap. I wish I had bought more cases as the ammo was good original 2150fps spec and now seems to hold a prized status with collectors. Eley and Remington were always 2000 round cases. Have never seen a full case of Hornady or CCI but since CCI made the Federal ammo, there is a good chance Hornady and CCI are also packaged in 5000 round cases. rc

Just checked the latest price on Ammoseek. $5.75 a box was the lowest but I think they make that up in higher shipping charges. The other prices seem to be right around $6.00 a box of 50 which indicates the prices are still coming down since the original posting of this thread.

Dealers won't stock it if you don't ask for it and distributes won't order it if the dealers don't ask for it. So if you buy it all on line you won't see it in the LGS just saying.. that how it works I've work both ends. they need to see demand.~~JMJ~~

I bought a case of .17 mach 2 17 grain Hornady a couple months back from SG ammo, 5000 rounds, $705.00 to my door.

I have seen 17 HMR and .22 WMR listed as 2000 rounds per case.
