Steyr Zephyr with SIGHTS !

There is a purple- headed step child on Gunbroker. There is a Zephyr 2 with

sights. It is not on the Steyr web page, but there it is ! I can't make my mind up

if I like it or not, it is on a metal rack with a grid pattern, so it is hard to see what

the rifle really looks like. The rear sight looks a lot like the 452 rear sight from CZ

as far as I can determine. Opinions ?

I think some rifles looks are enhanced by having sights. I don't think that these sights on this rifle appeal to me. Just my opinion, and as you suggested, not the best pictures.

Mine came in a few weeks ago and it has iron sights. It surprised me. I was wanting no sights and didn't know they were offered with sights. I took it home anyway and am satisfied with it. I haven't studied them real hard but at a glance it looks like they would be easily removed. I may end up with a non sight version someday.

Can you post a link? I can't find it, I assume it's gone now. But I'd really like to see what it looked like.

Edit: Found it! Those sights almost certainly weren't done at the factory, unless Steyr is now buying (possible) or perfectly cloning the CZ 455 tangent sights (very unlikely) I agree with Shenandoah, those particular sights look awful on the Zephyr II. Why can't Steyr just get it right and use the trigger guard and iron sights design their centerfires have? Those look fantastic, this looks cheap and lazy.

They were done by Steyr. It was a limited run, and they were factory.

Then they bought CZ parts and stuck them on. A very lazy way to do it, and while the result is a very functional gun I'm sure, it looks awful. They really need to put their own sights (which look fantastic) on the Zephyr II.

And fix the trigger guard. But it seems like they don't actually care to go all the way with this gun.

CZ sights are the best open sights I have used for shooting varying distances. Mine are accurate at each of the 25, 50, 75, and 100 meter graduations. I like them so much I installed a set on my Sako 72.

Somebody just won the iron sight Zephyr on GB for $895 shipped. That was a good deal to me. I like those iron sights also, I have them on a couple of 452's and because the front sight is also adjustable for height, the rear can be calibrated for the correct yardage.

Somebody got a good deal in my mind.

Good deal!

That was a good deal. It was a limited run.....I personally would like to have a

receiver peep on a Steyr, and a front sight with inserts. The balance on these

little Steyr sporters is just about perfect for me. I have another on the way, but

it will be months before I get it.
