There are a few manufactures that are producing left hand rimfire rifles. Are any of these manufactures selling LH actions or barreled action? Custom actions are to expensive to put into a build.

Define to expensive. You could try an Anschutz 64 barreled action or contact Melvin Forbes at ULA and see if he still sells actions and barreled actions or Vudoo Gun Works. On most factory guns the stock only really costs the manufacturer a hundred or two dollars on mid priced guns so your not going to get much of a discount and most of them wont sell just a barreled action.
What kind of gun are you trying to build?

I was hoping to stay around $1500 complete, (action, barrel, optics, and assembly). Checked with CZ and Savage and they don't sell actions separately. Anschutz is an option, but would put me closer to $2000, I would bet. Have not checked Howa or Browning to see if they were selling actions only. Will do that and if they don't will have to be satisfied with a right hand action (might be best option for benchrest).

You can buy a new Savage GL left handed rifle for $150.00. Would be a great start for a custom. Especially with the GM barrels hitting the market now. No extraction or ejection woes. Smooth bolt action. Decent cheap mags. Just add quality barrel, stock and custom metal and optics. Trigger is decent from the factory. Much to love and cheap intro.

rw, that would be an cheap way to go. I have a MKII that shoots well. With a good barrel and right stock it might be fun to mess with! Thanks for the idea.

You're really limiting yourself in an already limited market when you say barreled action.

Sell the stock and you have a barreled action. Additionally, the bottom metal and action screws may be handy to have if you restock it.

In addition to what Russ said, I'd consider a CZ452 and an Anschutz 1416.

A used Anschutz would come in well under budget and I prefer used rifles because with due diligence you can avoid surprises and learn about the accuracy before you buy it...Tom

Tom, thanks for your comments. I have begun to work with the MKII. I purchased an after market stock and will be adding an aftermarket barrel. I have a competition 36x scope for it, so when the barrel is installed I will see if I have a club competitive gun.
