Went to a gun and knife show, scored a like new magnum. The best part, $375.00. By numbers it's an 1999. Can't wait to go play.

Finally got time to strip apart and clean, was never shot enough to break in. Guess i will breakout the scotchbrite and begin. Plus the bolt will get worked over by Randy at CPC.

Awful

It's truly awful and disgusting..................that you found that gun and I didn't. It's hard to find a 10/22M for sale by a guy who has no clue what it might be worth. Nice find, smoking deal!

By the way, assuming it's a "double extractor gun" remove the left side "extractor" before you shoot it.

Thankfully it is single extractor. The bolt and trigger and going to have a spa day with randy at CPC. The man is a magician with any 10/22. All my guns at least have the bolt CPC'ed, even my takedown does not have first round fliers anymore. Once the weather warms a bit, range day.

Happy, Happy, Happy

Got the bolt and trigger back from CPC, Randy is awesome. Bolt squared, pinned, headspaced and jeweled. Trigger is a dream, crisp 2.5 lbs. He truly puts all others to shame. Added a bed button/cleaning hole and bedded. Length of pull and forend temporary fix. Leupold scope. Gonna get a nice walnut stock this year. Would give range report, but about 3 feet of snow. Initial test fire had 1/2" groups at 30 yards.

Ya.. I watch the news...
Well Brutha... playing around with a hard to find stock is not a great idea But, on a good note.. sounds like you are willing to "play around".. that's a good thing because you have a Richards Microfit super fancy walnut stock ordered.. Microfit being the keyword.

Yeah- They should change the name to “MegaFit”
As in the fits you will have sweating the labor of sanding their
product to produce an acceptable finish.

When all is said & done, it will be worth the effort

Sorry to be blunt, but you now have a rifle worth... well... $375... or maybe a bit less.

What a shame. You should have kept the original stock original! It's fine to substitute one that suits you better for use. But when it comes time to sell it on, nothing beats original for value on a relatively hard-to-find item like that.

DrGunner, good day, would you explain more about "mega fit" ? Understanding sales pitches and manufacturing descriptions can be misleading. i take it their stocks are not as finished as they claim? Any tips on insights would be welcome.

It depends on what you order but in essence- yes, many of their stocks require some degree of sanding/ final finishing before they reach their full potential.
