This could have exacerbated an already dangerous set of circumstances.

As far as there being an obstruction in the barrel that got blown out with a blank, it's my understanding that checking the barrel for obstructions has been part of the safety protocols since the Brandon Lee incident.

Given some of what's been made public about the incident and the armorer (going off statements corroborated by multiple sources, and not just spurious rumor), I'm not sure I'd trust that any particular industry standard firearms safety protocols were followed on this set.

Ain't that the truth.

If nothing else I'm glad it's fed a discussion about safe handling.

Only amongst those that actually care and have basic knowledge.

The rest of the world is losing their minds and proclaiming how dangerous even fake/"prop" guns are.

My family in the UK is fully aware that my daughter was competing in USPSA with me since high-school, and is fully competent with a loaded weapon. She can shoot a heck of a lot better than me. Talk above about handing over a loaded weapon, I would not hesitate to toss one to her. Several in our family are retired LEO and/or military. She's been carrying for years (before legal, in fact - don't tell anyone. ) They still "tut tut" at the idea of loaded weapons around the house, let alone on our persons. She keeps her chambered match pistol in her nightstand, and carries a chambered Shield I bought because it has a thumb-safety. I'm OK with one in the pipe in my G43. Haven't shot myself yet.

.. it's all media-driven. I hate to imply there was anything intentional but they will certainly milk this for all it's worth.

/rant

.. but the fallout from this will haunt us for years, if not indefinitely.

Well, we know that Baldwin was not likely to kill somebody because they were complaining about not getting paid.

Conservative Beaver is looking like fake news.

.. and the army. She scored Expert. 39/40, iirc, after dragging it thru mud for a couple of weeks.

Handy for a medic. Which - full circle - might have come in handy.

English not the writers first language?

We still don’t officially know if it was a cap&ball or cartridge revolver.
Was wondering if this and the other ‘accidental discharges were because the hammer didn’t set once being cocked? All the info we have appears to be rumor and speculation .

As I said it’s getting out of hand, I’d did not say it was true.

The only things missing are the clowns, elephants and a big tent, to turn this into a 3 ring circus.

I am confident Hollywood folks will protect their "own". We are already reading lots of excuses being offered up for poor Alec.

The scapegoat will be well below his pay grade.
