Wednesday evening smallbore practice.

Club match, NRA steel, meters
Date: 8-8-18
Anschutz 1710
Leupold Vari-X III / Premier boosted scope @ ~32X
SK Standard Plus

Match #1, Standard Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 6
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 7
Rams - 6
TOTAL - 28

Match #2, Hunter Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 4
Pigs - 7
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 25

Very first chicken of the second match I managed to turn almost a full 180 degrees. I couldn't believe that it stayed on the pad and it messed with my mind enough that I missed a bunch of Chickens.

Our regular club match got cancelled the night before due to forecasted rain. (It ended up not raining until well into the afternoon, oh well.) Several of us met up at the range on Sunday and had an informal match.

I haven't been posting my air rifle practice scores much lately but I have to share today's scores...

Match #1, Club match, NRA Air Rifle resettables, yards
Date: 8-15-18

Round #1, Target Rifle:
Class: AAA
Anschutz 2002 SuperAir
JSB Diablo Exact RS (7.33) pellets
Weaver T-24

Chickens - 4
Pigs - 6
Turkeys - 2
Rams - 5
TOTAL - 17

Not great for me, probably should have warmed up a bit more before getting started.

Round #2, Sporter Rifle:
Class: Master
Air Arms TX200 Mk-III
Weaver V-24 @ 24X
Air Arms Field Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 7
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 5
TOTAL - 26

Much better, but I know I can do better.

Round #3, Open Rifle:
Class: AAA
TX200 again.

Chickens - 8
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 10 (WOOT!)
Rams - 6
TOTAL - 33 (New PR!)

Started on Rams, good run on the Chickens. The one Pig I missed I actually skimmed the inside of the back leg and it wiggled but didn't go down. Then on my last animal I got 10 in a row on Turkeys! Also, a 33 is my personal record high score for any air rifle or smallbore match I've ever shot. Woot!

One round of practice on the swingers after shooting two sets each of 25-yard and 50-yard offhand challenge.

Practice, NRA steel swingers, meters
Date: 8-18-18
Anschutz 1710
Leupold Vari-X III / Premier boosted scope @ ~32X
SK Standard Plus
Class: AAA/AAA

Chickens - 5
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 4
TOTAL - 25

Having a hard time hitting the Rams when I felt like they should have hit. I dropped my scope setting by 1/2 MOA and hit the next four out of five, and the miss was a bad shot on my part. Oh well, that's the game.

Air rifle practice with the guys. Little to no wind was great for shooting but brutal with the 98 degree heat.

Match #1, Club match, NRA Air Rifle resettables, yards
Date: 8-22-18

Round #1, Target Rifle:
Class: AAA
Anschutz 2002 SuperAir
JSB Diablo Exact RS (7.33) pellets
Weaver T-24

Chickens - 7
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 8
TOTAL - 29

Only one point behind my personal best score for Target rifle. Woot!

Round #2, Sporter Rifle:
Class: Master
Air Arms TX200 Mk-III
Weaver V-24 @ 24X
Air Arms Field Heavy (10.34) pellets

Chickens - 7
Pigs - 9
Turkeys - 6
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 29

Round #3, Open Rifle:
Class: AAA
TX200 again.

Chickens -9
Pigs - 8
Turkeys - 5
Rams - 7
TOTAL - 29

Last animal for me was Turkeys and a bit of a cross breeze kicked up just as we got started. I lost least a couple to the shifting wind but I know that reading and reacting to wind changes is a weakness of mine. That's why my Target scores are usually lower than my Sporter and Open scores.

Smallbore match on the south side of town this weekend so I post score afterward.

I know at least 10 shots were just bad shots but the rest were mere millimeters off the edge of the animals. So frustrating!

Match #2, Hunter Rifle
Class: AAA

Chickens - 7
Pigs - 5
Turkeys - 8
Rams - 6
TOTAL - 26

Much better, although the edge near-misses came back to haunt me on the Pigs.

Air rifle practice. Some rain came through earlier in the day so it was down in the 80's and the wind was light 5-10 MPH and relatively consistent.
