I found in my closet a Westernfield 43 that I purchased many years ago and my wife doesn't what to deal with the stuff I own once I gone. (I'm not leaving yet) but you never know when. I could use some help putting a value on it as I plan to sell it. I did look around on the net and didn't find anything. Attached should be a couple of pictures if it works. The wood was refinished sometime in its life and the bluing is thin.

Your comments would be appreciated.

The sticky's above in DamGuys will give you the details for the rifle, The 43 I think is a less common model I am sorry but I cannot give you a price as I have never held a model 43. Others will chime in shortly with more knowledge than I? Nice old rifle!

They are great rifles, the WWF 43 is very seldom seen. The good is that the sights are still there, the bad is the swivels are missing and someone modified the fore end of the stock, probably trying to lighten it up some. Original replacement stocks are hard to come by. Took me years to find a replacement for my modified 43 stock.

As is and depending on how bad that certain someone wants it, I would put an est. of around 200-250 on it.

If the stock was unmodified and swivels there, you would probably be looking at a 3-400 rifle.

Take a look at the rear sight apeature also, from the photo it looks like it could be a 4A adjustable type. That alone will fetch a good buck.

Mossberg 43

Sir,

Thanks for your reply.

I'm not familiar with what a 4A should look like. Is that a lyman or Mossberg sight?

it is a Lyman 57M with a mossberg 4A adjustable aperture. I overlooked it, the aperture alone at auction(eBay) will fetch around 40-60.
