Cooper TRP3 question

Log in to see fewer ads
Hi folks, not really a new member I've lost my PW and no longer can retrieve a new one so I started a new account.

My question is I'm in the middle of a trade for a short range BR rifle for a Cooper TRP3. To my understanding I was told to stay away from the earlier models as they had some issues with the action. Does anyone know this is for a fact and what year models do I stay away from?
The test target with the particular rifle dates 12-5-07

Also on target says serial number is TRP3-52

Thanks in advance

James

It should be OK if the action is marked 57M. The earlier actions were marked 57.

What was the issue with the action? The target for mine is dated 10-18-05. This is #7 of the first 40 that was produced and I have never had an issue with mine.

Cooper produced the Model 36, Model 57 (only a few), and the Model 57M (current model). Some people do not like the early models, but I have never had any issues with any of them. I personally think that the Model 36 Coopers were the best of the bunch, highest quality, workmanship, and wood selection. Others would disagree.
I also like the Model 57M Coopers and have had no issues.
