Two 10’s on last bull, then one minute horn before cease fire. Finished last bull in less than a minute with an x and two tens. My rushed shooting better than my slow fire?

DISTANCE 25 yds open sight entry
DATE: 4/23/2021
SCORE: 161-1x
NAME: jazzsax8 72yo (Marshall)
LOCATION: Greeley, CO outdoors
GUN: High Ruger Mark II frame w/Tac Sol 6" upper
GUN SETUP: Iron Sights
AMMO: CCI S.V.
INDIV TGTS SCORES:
25, 33, 29, 39 1X, 35
NOTES: This was a fun visit after almost a month off. Windy around 10+mph at 57deg. but nice to be out on the prairie. I tried another open sight pistol in my Browning Belgium 6 3/4" but scored a paltry 116. Normally I would put the barrel up for sale but its such a beautiful pistol with heritage. This might be my only entry for the month so carry on all you super shooters creeping up the ladder of success!

Jazz, I think a light barrel is quite a handicap. 161 is a solid showing, and I'm happy to see I won't be the only iron sight entry at 25 this month.

Thanks for the comment and I have thought the same thing about the light barrel. I also shot my Browning Belgium with the 6 3/4" barrel that is a little heavier rig and for some reason the best I can do is down around 120. Probably the open sight differences with the Browning rear less than optimal.

I just scored the Volquartsen grip for the Ruger this morning that might get me a few more points especially if I ever go one handed. I need to put the heavier comp target 6 7/8" slabside barrel on the Ruger and try it open sights next. It now has a nice Sightron 4-reticle tube style dot scope on it that is a real performer. So many options!

NOTES:Just found this section. So this is my first attempt. Been shooting the rifle section for a while and having fun. This is a nice change. Think I’d like to find a gun that I can put a dot on. Those iron sites sure are harder to see than they used to be.
