Winchester 88A rebuild

I had a couple parts to put one together, mainly the base and bracket. With the help of JWA on some measurement's, I was able to make a few parts to get a functional sight.

It's not perfect, but will work for what I need. Now to find the short only bolt stop to complete the sight.

Only thing left to make for it, is a thumb nut secure spring. I have a general ideal of what it should look like, but would like to see a clear picture of one if possible. Seen several picture online, but nothing clear enough to see just the spring.

Nice job on the rebuild!

Here is the spring, note the hole in the spring is flat on the sides to prevent it from rotating when the thumb-nut is turned. Also, you can add the slot on the thumb-nut if you want it to more closely resemble the original.

Let me know if you need additional views or a different angle.

Best Regards,

.

Thanks, those will do just fine. A lot simpler design than I what I was dreaming up.

Yep, pretty simple. It might not be obvious in my photo but the tip of the spring is bent slightly to produce a ridge which clicks against the knurling of the thumb-nut when rotated.

Good luck with your project!

Yes I did see that the tip has a divot in it to catch the knurl’s of the thumb nut.

Very nice, can't get any better than that Just add the thumb nut spring and it will be as close to the original as you could get. Nice work.
